Position Overview

Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Sleep Medicine team. The APP will evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a broad range of sleep disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy, parasomnias, and other sleep-related conditions.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, and an interest in providing evidence-based, patient-centered sleep care.

About Us

Central Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through a network of more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive sleep medicine evaluations and physical examinations.

  • Obtain detailed sleep histories and assess sleep-related symptoms and risk factors.

  • Diagnose and manage common sleep disorders in collaboration with physicians and other members of the care team.

  • Review and interpret sleep study results, including polysomnography and home sleep apnea testing, within the scope of training, credentialing, and applicable regulations.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans and provide patient education regarding sleep disorders and treatment options.

  • Manage and follow patients receiving PAP therapy, including CPAP and BiPAP.

  • Evaluate PAP compliance, efficacy, mask issues, and treatment-related concerns.

  • Manage medications when clinically appropriate and within scope of practice.

  • Provide counseling regarding sleep hygiene, behavioral interventions, weight management, and other lifestyle modifications.

  • Monitor treatment response and adjust management plans as appropriate.

  • Coordinate care with sleep physicians, primary care providers, dentists, behavioral health professionals, durable medical equipment providers, and other specialists.

  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records and clinical documentation.

  • Participate in quality-improvement initiatives and ongoing professional education.

  • Provide compassionate, accessible care while maintaining high standards of clinical quality and patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Current APRN/NP or PA license in the applicable state.

  • Board certification as an Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant .

  • Graduate degree from an accredited NP or PA program.

  • Current BLS certification.

  • Appropriate state prescribing and controlled-substance credentials, as applicable.

  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and organizational skills.

Pay Transparency

Central Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $70.87 hourly. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
