Job description

We are Manifest.eco, a high-growth, sustainable third-party logistics start-up, shaking up the fulfillment industry by offering eco-friendly logistics solutions for eCommerce brands and pioneering Third Wave Fulfillment.

At Manifest, we believe that our Product is order fulfillment and the white-glove service that supports it. We focus most on whatโ€™s fundamentally important to our growing brand and design, implement, and deliver solutions to meet those needs.

Location: San Marcos, Texas (Austin area)

The Role:

Implementation, or the onboarding of new accounts, is critical to facilitating success of our partnerships with brands, both at the onset as well as long term. As our brand portfolio grows, we need a leader who can make onboarding consistent, teachable, and repeatable at scale.

The Implementation Manager leads Manifestโ€™s team of Implementation Specialists and owns the outcomes of the onboarding function: on-time go-lives, merchants who genuinely understand how to work with us, and clean handoffs to Account Management. This is a player-coach role.

The Implementation Manager carries a small book of strategic and enterprise onboardings personally while developing the team that runs the rest. They report directly to the Director of Merchant Experience.

The Implementation Manager owns:

  • Team Leadership & Development: hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance-managing a team of Implementation Specialists, including sitting in on their merchant calls and giving direct feedback on how well they teach
  • Onboarding Quality & Delivery: accountability for the portfolio of active onboardings, go-live dates, escalations, and the merchant experience across every account in flight
  • Merchant Education at Scale: owning Manifestโ€™s merchant training curriculum, from the live call structure to the SOPs, guides, and recorded walkthroughs behind it
  • Process & Methodology: refining the onboarding playbook, identifying automation and efficiency opportunities, and partnering with Sales, Operations, and Technology on the parts of onboarding that cross team lines

The Manifest Implementation Manager is a builder of people and process. They are highly organized and detail-oriented, but their leverage comes from raising the ceiling on their team rather than doing every onboarding themselves. They are outgoing and comfortable in front of merchants, including executive stakeholders, and they set the standard for how Manifest teaches a brand to work with us. They are equally comfortable in a warehouse, on a video call with a founder, and in a spreadsheet reviewing cycle-time data.

The Implementation Manager will develop deep knowledge of Manifestโ€™s warehouse operations and workflows, particularly the prescriptive use of our warehouse management system (WMS), ShipHero, along with merchant platforms including online storefronts (e.g. Shopify), inventory management systems and ERPs (e.g. NetSuite), EDI platforms for wholesale (e.g. SPS Commerce, Orderful), and the middleware connecting Manifest systems with merchant technology.

The Implementation Manager works two days per week in our San Marcos, Texas fulfillment center and three days per week remote.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Lead and Develop the Team: Run 1:1s, set goals, coach on merchant communication and project discipline, join live calls to observe and give feedback, and build the ramp plan that gets a new Specialist productive quickly.
  • Own the Onboarding Portfolio: Maintain visibility across every active onboarding, hold the team to go-live dates, unblock stalled projects, and step in personally when an account is at risk.
  • Run Strategic Onboardings: Personally lead a small number of the highest-complexity or highest-value implementations, including the merchant training that goes with them.
  • Own the Training Curriculum: Define what every merchant must be taught and how, and keep the SOPs, integration guides, one-pagers, and recorded sessions current as our operations evolve.
  • Set and Defend SLAs: Make sure merchants are told clearly what our SLAs commit to and what falls outside them, and that the team holds that line consistently and kindly.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Work with Sales on realistic scoping and expectation-setting before a deal closes, with Operations on launch readiness in the building, and with Account Management on clean graduation of accounts.
  • Report on the Function: Track and report onboarding cycle time, on-time go-live rate, escalation volume, and early-life account health to the Director of Merchant Experience, and use it to prioritize process work.
  • Scale the Playbook: Continuously improve the onboarding methodology, pushing for automation, better tooling, and documentation that reduces the manual load per launch.

Weโ€™re Looking For People Whoโ€ฆ:

  • Have led a customer-facing team and genuinely enjoy developing people, not just managing throughput.
  • Are outgoing and credible in front of merchants, including founders and executives, and set the tone for how the team shows up on calls.
  • Teach naturally, and can teach their team to teach.
  • Hold a firm line kindly, including when the answer is โ€œthatโ€™s outside our SLA, hereโ€™s what we can do instead.โ€
  • Think in systems and playbooks, and would rather fix the process than fight the same fire twice.
  • Possess strong technical aptitude and are comfortable with APIs, data structures, and complex software integrations.
  • Are comfortable being measured, and comfortable measuring their team.
  • Demonstrate strong ownership, accountability, and a proactive, decisive approach to risk management.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment, embracing continuous improvement and process refinement.
  • Embrace and expect change, and maintain composure and confidence under stress.
  • Possess grit.
  • Think critically to identify root causes of problems.
  • Champion merchants while advocating for the internal team.
  • Prioritize action over words, and donโ€™t let perfect hinder progress.
  • Step up and do the necessary work, and demonstrate a willingness to keep learning.

What Youโ€™ve Done Prior to Manifest:

  • 5+ years in customer-facing implementation, onboarding, customer success, or professional services roles, preferably in a SaaS, B2B, or Logistics environment.
  • 2+ years directly managing a team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • A track record of owning delivery outcomes across a portfolio of concurrent, complex projects with firm deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience running live training or customer-facing sessions, and building the enablement materials behind them.
  • Experience building or substantially improving an onboarding playbook, methodology, or training program.
  • Deep familiarity with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento) and/or ERP systems is highly desirable.
  • Direct experience working with and configuring a Warehouse Management System (WMS) is a significant asset.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Asana, Jira) and CRM software.
  • Third-party logistics, fulfillment, or supply chain experience is a strong plus.

Pay & Benefits

  • $95,000-$115,000 per year in On-Target Earnings (OTE) depending on experience
  • Full-time employment
  • Medical, dental, vision insurance coverage
  • 401k
