Job description

Samsung SDS America (SDSA) supports Samsung's global technology ecosystem by delivering secure, highperformance IT infrastructure and enterprise solutions across cloud, mobility, analytics, and advanced manufacturing environments.

At the Samsung Austin Semiconductor campus-one of the most advanced semiconductor fabrication facilities in the United States-SDSA plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of the systems that keep production running around the clock. This environment demands engineering excellence, operational precision, and a deep commitment to system resilience. This role operates in a highstakes, innovationdriven setting that is a key technical resource, supporting the missioncritical Windows platforms that underpin semiconductor manufacturing operations.

Position Summary:

The Senior Windows Systems Engineer is responsible for administering and supporting a complex Windows server environment that includes physical systems, VMwarebased virtual infrastructure, Citrix, and Horizon platforms. This role provides deep technical expertise in Windows operating systems, ensuring that server configurations, deployments, and integrations follow architectural standards and support the performance and stability requirements of the manufacturing environment. While not a formal manager, the role frequently provides technical leadership across multiple projects and may supervise administrators on a daytoday basis.

This is a full-time onsite role in Taylor, TX.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure, administer and support enterprisescale Windows Server environments across onpremise, physical, virtual, VMware, Citrix, and Horizon platforms, ensuring stability, performance, and security.
  • Serve as the subjectmatter expert for Windows OS architecture, providing guidance on system design, integration, and best practices for enterprise deployments.
  • Architect, build, and sustain highly available Windows Server solutions, including multinode clusters, AD forest/replication design, WSUS hierarchies, and disasterrecovery plans that are regularly tested.
  • Monitor system health using Windows and VMware event logs, performance reports, and web log files; identify anomalies and document corrective actions through established changemanagement processes.
  • Own the creation of sophisticated PowerShell/Desired State Configuration pipelines that automate endtoend server provisioning, configuration compliance, and patch lifecycle management.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, changes, procedures, and architectural updates to ensure operational continuity and team knowledge sharing.
  • Deliver handson training, mentorship, and informal knowledge transfer to engineers and support staff to strengthen team capability.
  • Respond to urgent and escalated support cases-including afterhours and weekend incidents-to maintain uninterrupted operations in missioncritical environments.
  • Participate in infrastructure planning, lifecycle management, and modernization initiatives to enhance system reliability and scalability.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to support production systems, resolve complex issues, and ensure alignment with organizational security and compliance standards.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience as a Windows Systems Engineer supporting largescale, multiplatform enterprise environments; at least 3years in a senior or lead technical role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience; relevant certifications (MCSE, VCP, etc.) preferred.
  • Extensive handson experience with VMware VCF, Windows Server platforms, and virtualized infrastructure operations.
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting expertise with the ability to automate administrative tasks, build custom tools, and streamline operational workflows.
  • Deep proficiency with Active Directory Services, including DNS, Group Policy Management, domain replication, OU design, and identity/security administration.
  • Strong background in Windows clustering technologies, AD maintenance, and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) configuration and support.
  • Advanced troubleshooting of storage platforms (PowerPlex, PowerVault, Isilon, NetApp, Pure Storage) and BMC/iDRAC/iLO hardware management.
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively on crossfunctional engineering projects.
  • Experience designing and implementing Windowsbased solutions in highavailability, missioncritical environments.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, virtualization concepts, and enterprise security practices.
  • Communicate clearly and partner with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Provide effective knowledge transfer to peers.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation habits and proactively share insights that strengthen team capability.
  • Respond effectively to urgent or afterhours support needs.
