Job description

Systems Engineer – CONTRACT (W2 or 1099)
Hybrid, Cleveland
Eligibility:
Due to Federal Project Guidelines, US Citizenship is required for this role

 

The Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the organization’s server infrastructure and cloud environments. This role requires strong hands-on experience across Windows server environments and cloud platforms, with the ability to install, monitor, and optimize systems while ensuring security and performance. The ideal candidate can work independently, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to ongoing infrastructure improvements.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Required: Equivalent hands-on technical experience may substitute for formal education
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Windows server environment
  • Experience supporting server infrastructure and/or cloud environments
  • Strong technical knowledge of: Windows Server (2003 – current), Windows 10, Microsoft Office / Office 365, Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, IIS, FTP, Spam filtering, MECM (SCCM) and Intune, VMware, Lotus Notes
  • Practical knowledge of Ethernet and WAN technologies

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with automation of tasks and processes

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, end users, and leadership
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Description & Duties

Server Administration

  • Perform Windows Server administration functions
  • Administer web servers and maintain Active Directory domain controllers
  • Manage DNS, DHCP, print servers, and printer lifecycle
  • Patch and upgrade servers as required

Cloud & Infrastructure Support

  • Support Microsoft Office 365 and Azure environments
  • Administer MECM (SCCM) and Intune
  • Maintain and improve PC imaging processes
  • Monitor and evaluate server infrastructure performance

Hardware & Software Support

  • Implement, maintain, and support server hardware and software
  • Manage software licensing (e.g., AutoCAD, Minitab, SolidWorks, Meridian)

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Provide 24x7 on-call support for server and infrastructure issues
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, servers, PCs, and printers
  • Support service desk escalations

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Create and maintain documentation for systems, applications, and procedures
  • Recommend improvements for infrastructure, security, and scalability
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance performance and efficiency
