Job description

We are seeking an onsite Centralized Scheduler in our Radiology Department. As a Centralized Scheduler, you routinely schedule tests/procedures for all patients where services occur as a scheduled event. This may include coordinating patient appointments, admissions, and registration processes to ensure efficient and accurate access to care. 

Shift’s Available:  Days  

Employment Type: Full Time 

Hours: 8-hour shift – 7:30AM to 4:00PM or 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center – Gadsden, AL

This is an onsite position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): 

  • Schedule patient appointments, clinic visits such as surgery, G.I. Lab, Cardiac Cath Lab, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Nutritional Services, Infusion units or any other location where scheduling of a test or procedure may occur 
  • Greet and register patients upon arrival, collect and verify personal, medical, and insurance information for accurate hospital records, and obtain necessary signatures on consent forms, privacy notices, and billing authorizations 
  • Ensure that accurate, complete and thorough patient demographics are entered into the computer system, including insurance and authorizations, if applicable 
  • Notify departments as necessary of various services that may require, equipment, instrumentation and supplies from outside vendors for scheduled surgeries 
  • Prepare and distribute the surgical schedule and on call list to appropriate departments or personnel 

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)
  • Knowledge of multiple insurance authorization requirementsEffective written and very to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Customer Services experience required
  • Strong clerical and computer skills.

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: 

  • 1-2 year previous experience in a hospital environment preferred 4. Knowledge of medical terminology
