Job description

Job Summary and Qualifications

This position will work 6pm - 6am, two shifts per week.

As a Certified Obstetric Surgical Technologist at HCA Healthcare, you’ll be a valued part of a highly collaborative team that is passionate about delivering newborns safely and with the highest standards of care, while honoring each professional’s skills and expertise in obstetrics and surgery. You’ll prepare the surgical suite, support the team during procedures, and ensure every patient receives compassionate care. With access to training and mentorship, predictable scheduling with on-call support, and clear pathways for growth, you’ll have the tools and environment to follow your passion for obstetric surgery while improving the lives of families every day. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing the surgical suite and organizing instruments, equipment, and supplies to support safe, efficient procedures 
  • Assisting with patient positioning, prepping, and draping while maintaining comfort, privacy, and safety 
  • Providing instruments, equipment, and hands-on support to the surgical team during obstetric procedures 
  • Maintaining a sterile field, performing counts, and ensuring instruments and equipment function properly 
  • Working closely with the surgical team to deliver patient-centered care and a seamless surgical experience 
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent required. 
  • Graduate of a surgical technologist program OR hires prior to 9/1/2009 may substitute with 1-year experience in a hospital setting as a surgical technologist. 
  • CST – Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) (formally the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist) OR 
  • TS-C- Tech in Surgery, Certified through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required: 

A. NON-CERTIFIED: No license, certificate or registrations required for the Sterile Processing Department All other departments no license, certificate or registration required if they meet the below provision: Per Texas HB 643, surgical technologists entering practice after 09/01/2009 must have and maintain a surgical technologist certification. Individuals that performed in a surgical technologist position prior to 09/01/2009 are not required to obtain a surgical technologist certification.
