Job description

PrimaryPosition Purpose:
The Assistant Transportation Manager is responsiblefor the site operation at the customer's location which includes driver,office, and customer related issues.  Thisrole assists the Transportation Manager to help create a sense of partnershipbetween the customer and USX.
PositionFunctions:
Manage equipment utilization.
Manage all aspects related to drivers.
Manage office staff personnel and is involved in recruitment, training, and performance management of staff.
Provide on-time service.
Assist Transportation Manager with the following:
Customer shipping needs.
Accounting for all shipments via a weekly service report.
Developing a sense of trust and integrity with the customer.
Assuring all fleet maintenance programs are current on tractors and trailers.
Documenting and communicating all service-related issues.
Analyzing volume figures to forecast surges in business.
Reviewing all credit, collection, and aging reports to increase cash flow.
Coordinating lot checks and review for stale trailers.
Perform job performance evaluations and takes necessary actions to assure employees are working at capacity.
Ensure customer service and on-time delivery are achieved.
Participate in rotational off-site on-call duty (possible nights/weekends).
Perform any other duties assigned based on customer or business needs.
Collaborate in-person with all levels of the organization to harness collective intelligence of the workforce.
Attend all in-person meetings and trainings on recent developments, goals, and objectives. Participate in such discussions by offering input and advice.
Regularly engage remotely and in-person with customers and potential customers to establish rapport, open communication, and expectations.
Build credibility and trust among managed employees by providing prompt and constructive feedback in office when observing such need.
Lead and facilitate regularly scheduled meetings and in-person trainings that harmonize collaboration internal to the department and external to other SBUs.
Determine best practices and reinforce constructive and positive feedback through face-to-face interactions with employees on the floor in real time.
