Job Description:
Pay Range: $15hr - $20hr
  • Validation of the Pistol Permit request and consent to ensure that they follow MH 9.33 Laws and HIPAA Laws for requesting mental health background checks.
  • Entering the demographic data of the applicant into the MHBC (Mental Health Background Check) application which checks all of the OMH State psychiatric facilities for any services that the individual may have received.
  • The results of the background check would then need to be printed and copied.
  • The original would need to be sent back to the police authority and a copy of the request is then filed for the duration of the document retention.
  • There is a need for a timely turnaround of the requests back to the police authorities for local processing.
  • The staff would be handling requests for pistol permits, explosive, employment and government employee qualifications.
  • Other tasks include digitizing the records within the department for an electronic repository to be held for the duration of the file retention per policy.
  • Accuracy in the digitizing process is required to ensure integrity of the file is upheld.
