Job description

Residential Support Assistant

At CARC, we believe every person deserves safety, dignity, and meaningful support. If you want a role where your reliability directly strengthens the lives of others, this is a place to make a real impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Staffing Coordination — Fill open shifts, respond to call-ins, and help maintain consistent coverage.
  • Documentation & Communication — Record call-ins and staffing updates accurately.
  • Data Management — Keep contact lists and staffing information updated in Humanity.
  • Record Distribution — Prepare and share on-call and staffing reports with leadership.
  • Emergency & Direct Care Support — Assist during emergencies and provide direct care when needed.
  • Professionalism & Safety — Follow HIPAA, CARC policies, and safety procedures while maintaining positive relationships with residents and staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of residential, long-term care, or rehabilitation experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and respond to staffing needs outside traditional hours
  • Valid New Mexico driver’s license meeting CARC insurance requirements
  • Must pass background check, post-offer physical, TB screening, and drug/alcohol testing

Physical Requirements

These expectations help ensure you can safely support residents and respond during emergencies:

  • Lift and move up to 50 lbs without help (for example: assisting a resident, moving equipment, or helping with transfers).
  • Stand and walk for most of your shift with only short or occasional breaks.
  • Bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive movements while helping residents or completing tasks.
  • Use your hands for fine motor tasks like preparing meals, typing, or assisting with grooming.
  • See and hear clearly enough to monitor residents, notice safety concerns, and communicate effectively.
  • Travel between locations on the CARC campus, sometimes outdoors in varying weather.
  • Minimal to moderate exposure to cleaning supplies, medical materials, or physical risk.

Why This Role Matters

Your work ensures residents receive uninterrupted support, staff feel backed by a reliable team, and CARC’s mission stays strong every day. This is a role for someone who thrives on responsibility, teamwork, and meaningful service.
