Job description

Description and Responsibilities
Adult Community Clinical Services is a Department of Mental Health funded service that is designed to deliver evidence-based interventions within a clinically focused model. Individuals served are diagnosed with mental illness or dual diagnosis and reside in their own homes, apartments, or in group living environments. Our services focus on helping people transition to a more independent environment while maximizing their natural supports by building skills and achieving personal goals. The teams are tight knit, supportive and multidisciplinary. Open Sky's talented clinicians, substance use counselors, nurses, peer staff, housing counselors, outreach counselors, and direct care staff provide quality, compassionate care to individuals served.
The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist provides direct peer support to individuals and families by sharing their lived and personal experiences with substance use with the purpose and intent to build trust and collaboration with people served. They work with individuals to support the development and maintenance of key skills including stress management, relapse prevention, self-determination, self-advocacy, decision making, and goal planning through the use of recovery tools, including Wellness Recovery Action Plans.
Other Key responsibilities:
  • Assist Persons in developing, implementing, and monitoring personal recovery goals using a self-directed recovery and wellness planning process and provide support to Persons through Life and Care Transitions.
  • Conduct 1:1 and group activities geared toward increasing people's readiness to engage in rehabilitation. Facilitate Peer skill building and support groups.
  • Facilitate the development of valued community roles including group memberships, employment, or volunteer experiences.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of consumer-operated programs and activities in the mental health field, such as Recovery Learning Communities.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.
  • Valid Driver's License, reliable and insured vehicle and acceptable driving record, required.
  • Must have lived experience with Substance Use Disorder and have the ability to forge mutually beneficial relationships with people served while maintaining strong boundaries/ethics.
  • Must be a Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) or be willing to obtain CARC within one year of employment.Open Sky pays for your certification!
