About the Team

The Okta Workflows team is on a mission to accelerate automation for everyone. Workflows Runtime builds the services and engine that empower our customers to execute billions of workflows each day without writing a single line of code. Our product is a critical part of Okta's Identity Orchestration strategy, providing a powerful, flexible, and intuitive way for customers to connect identity to any application or system. We are a passionate, collaborative team building with modern technologies like Rust, GoLang, Typescript and Node.js on a large-scale, multi-cloud (AWS and GCP) Kubernetes environment.

The Opportunity

As the Sr. Manager of Engineering for Workflows Runtime, you will be a key leader in defining the future of Identity Orchestration at Okta. You will lead, grow, and inspire the engineering teams responsible for building the entire of the Okta Workflows platform to execute user flows in a high-scale and performant manner. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role where you will be responsible for both strategic product direction and operational excellence, ultimately helping our customers automate everything without code.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead, recruit, and mentor multiple teams of engineers and engineering managers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and psychological safety.
  • Partner closely with senior leaders in Product Management and Design to define a compelling product vision and execute a multi-year roadmap.
  • Drive the technical strategy for the Workflows Runtime, ensuring we are building a scalable, reliable, and intuitive platform on modern technologies like Rust, GoLang, and messaging solutions.
  • Own and manage the operational rhythm of your organization, establishing metrics and processes to ensure engineering excellence and predictable delivery.
  • Represent your teams and strategy in senior leadership forums and company-wide reviews, translating technical progress into data-driven narratives.
  • Build strong relationships with other engineering leaders and stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment and drive complex, cross-functional projects to completion.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • 8+ years of software development experience
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience as a people manager
  • A strong technical background leading teams that build both complex backend systems using Rust, GoLang, and messaging solutions.
  • Experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with product and design counterparts to build and execute a long-term, customer-focused roadmap.
  • Exceptional coaching and mentoring skills, with a passion for developing engineering talent at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a large, globally distributed organization.

  • This position requires the ability to access federal environments and/or have access to protected federal data.  As a condition of employment for this position, the successful candidate must be able to submit documentation establishing U.S. Person status (e.g. a U.S. Citizen, National, Lawful Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee. 22 CFR 120.15) upon hire.
