Your Mission

The Offshore Paramedic serves as the primary healthcare provider and emergency responder on offshore platforms, delivering advanced life support and comprehensive primary care to employees, contractors, and visitors. This role oversees all aspects of clinical and medical management within the onsite clinic, ensuring high standards of patient care, accurate documentation, and compliance with International SOS protocols. Responsibilities include conducting consultations, managing medical emergencies, coordinating evacuations, implementing preventative health strategies, and maintaining medical equipment and supplies. Acting as a critical link in safeguarding offshore personnel, the Offshore Paramedic combines clinical expertise with leadership to uphold safety, health, and operational readiness in remote environments.

We are currently sourcing for a Full-time Paramedic to work a 28 day on / 28 day off rotation for one of our Offshore vessels. Shifts are 12 hours (on-call after hours for emergencies). Crew is approximately 200 people. Travel to and from the deployment port in Houma, LA is reimburseable. Candidates must have at least 1 year of previous offshore paramedic experience.

How You'll Contribute

Be the lifeline offshore-where your skills truly make a difference. As an Offshore Paramedic, you'll lead emergency and primary healthcare services in a unique and challenging environment:

  • Deliver exceptional patient care through clinical consultations, advanced life support, and primary health services, ensuring the highest standards of safety and well-being.
  • Perform medical and surgical procedures within your scope of practice, while maintaining continuity of care through follow-up and referrals.
  • Champion preventative health strategies, including medical screenings and health education sessions to keep offshore teams healthy and prepared.
  • Coordinate emergency response and evacuations, working closely with topside support to ensure rapid and effective action when needed.
  • Manage clinic operations by maintaining accurate medical documentation, overseeing inventory and controlled medications, and ensuring compliance with International SOS standards.
  • Lead emergency drills and training, providing first aid instruction and health promotion talks to enhance safety awareness.
  • Ensure quality and compliance through audits, infection control best practices, and participation in clinical governance activities.
  • Collaborate with medical directors and team members to optimize patient outcomes and uphold the highest standards of care in remote environments.
The Talent We're Looking For

Required Competencies

  • Working knowledge of the principles of emergency and primary health care including the management of acute and chronic cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, neurological, urological, surgical, psychological and special senses cases. 
  • Formulation of therapeutic plans and health education for the management of hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, joint and back and psychological cases. 
  • Advanced prehospital lifesaving invasive and non-invasive procedures including, but not limited to, the following: 
    • Clinical triage 
    • Advanced air way management 
    • Oxygen Therapy 
    • Intravenous access and Fluid Therapy 
    • Defibrillation and use of ventilator 
    • Pneumothorax needle decompression 
    • Care of traumatic cases including possible spinal and musculoskeletal limb injuries 
    • Wound care including wound suturing and removal of stiches 
    • Basic burn care 
  • Working knowledge of the principles of infectious diseases management.
  • Professional interpretation of point of care clinical diagnostics tests 
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills

Required Work Experience

  • Experience in pre-hospital emergency medical services
  • Experience in offshore medical services
  • Experience as a flight or critical care paramedic (preferred)
  • Minimum 3-5 years ALS paramedic experience  
  • Minimum 1 year experience in offshore medical service provision

Required Qualifications

  • Paramedic State Certification and/or National Registry
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PHTLS or ITLS
  • BOSIET

Required Languages 

  •  English
