Your Mission
The Floating Offshore/Onshore Paramedic serves as the primary provider of emergency and primary health care services for vessel employees, visitors, and contractors, while overseeing all aspects of clinical and medical management at the International SOS MedSite. This role ensures the highest standards of patient care through advanced life support, medical consultations, and coordination of referrals and evacuations. The Paramedic manages medication and consumables, acts as the signatory for pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, and implements infection control and preventative health strategies. Responsibilities include conducting drug and alcohol testing, delivering health education and first aid training, leading emergency drills, and maintaining accurate medical documentation in compliance with International SOS standards. Additionally, the Paramedic supports clinical governance through audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring the clinic operates efficiently, safely, and in alignment with client procedures and industry best practices.

We are currently sourcing for a Floating Onshore/Offshore Paramedic to cover open shifts offshore/onshore in the Beaumont/Port Arthur, TX area. Candidates must have at least 1 year of previous offshore paramedic experience.

How You'll Contribute

Step into a critical role where your expertise saves lives and ensures world-class healthcare in challenging offshore and onshore environments. As a Floating Paramedic, you'll lead emergency and primary care delivery while managing the clinic to the highest standards. 

  • Serve as the lead provider of emergency and primary health care for vessel employees, visitors, and contractors at the International SOS MedSite.
  • Deliver Advanced Life Support and high-level pre-hospital care, including clinical consultations and medical procedures within scope of practice.
  • Coordinate patient triage, continuity of care, referrals, and medical evacuations when required.
  • Conduct drug and alcohol testing and act as the signatory for pharmaceuticals and imported medical equipment and supplies.
  • Manage medication and consumables proactively and cost-effectively, ensuring compliance with client standards and procedures.
  • Provide non-accredited First Aid training and health promotion talks as requested by the client.
  • Prepare detailed handover reports for back-to-back paramedics to ensure seamless continuity of care.

  • Completion of an accredited paramedic program

Required Competencies

  • Working knowledge of the principles of emergency and primary health care including the management of acute and chronic cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, neurological, urological, surgical, psychological and special senses cases. 
  • Formulation of therapeutic plans and health education for the management of hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, joint and back and psychological cases. 
  • Advanced prehospital lifesaving invasive and non-invasive procedures including, but not limited to, the following: 
    • Clinical triage 
    • Advanced air way management 
    • Oxygen Therapy 
    • Intravenous access and Fluid Therapy 
    • Defibrillation and use of ventilator 
    • Pneumothorax needle decompression 
    • Care of traumatic cases including possible spinal and musculoskeletal limb injuries 
    • Wound care including wound suturing and removal of stiches 
    • Basic burn care 
  • Working knowledge of the principles of infectious diseases management.
  • Professional interpretation of point of care clinical diagnostics tests

Required Work Experience

  • Experience in pre-hospital emergency medical services
  • Experience in offshore medical services
  • Experience as a flight or critical care paramedic (preferred)
  • Minimum 3-5 years ALS paramedic experience  
  • Minimum 1 year experience in offshore medical service provision

Required Qualifications

  • Texas State Paramedic License
  • NREMT
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PHTLS or ITLS
  • BOSIET

Required Languages 

  •  English

  •    Candidates would need to be able to float within the Beaumont - Port Arthur, TX area
