Information Systems Technology Instructor

The Information System Technology Instructor reports to the Interim Dean of General Education with responsibility for instruction of secondary center and college-level courses, student advising, student retention, assessment of student learning, service on college committees, and other duties as assigned. Work assignments may include evening and/or weekend hours.
This is a full-time, 10- month or 12-month position with full college benefits.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology related subject or in a computer science field, with appropriate professional certifications preferred; associate degree may be considered*
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Working knowledge of networking, computer maintenance, web design, Unix, Linux, Cisco, MS Office Suite applications and Canvas or other Learning Management System

*A compelling combination of educational background, work experience, and professional credentials may be considered.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Teaching and/or other position-related work experience preferably at a community college
  • Demonstrated understanding of academic needs of underprepared, low income, first generation, and traditionally underrepresented students
  • Evidence of the ability to work effectively to meet the educational needs of a diverse student body
  • Preference will be given to candidates who understand active learning and divergent learning styles

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach courses for the Information Systems Technology program during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Deliver instruction to secondary and postsecondary students that aligns with approved ASU Mid-South syllabi and academic standards, supporting student attainment of course-and program-level learning outcomes.
  • Support development of curriculum to align with initiatives in Information Systems Technology.
  • Participate in Information Systems Technology Advisory Committee.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and grade records using the College's LMS.
  • Utilize and maintain lab areas following appropriate safety standards.
  • Serve as an academic program advisor for students enrolled in the Information Systems Technology program.
  • Participate in SkillsUSA activities and events.
  • Collaborate with relevant grant-sponsored programs to attain grant objectives and support the College's track record of success with executing federal, state, and privately-funded grant-sponsored initiatives.
  • Understand and comply with college policies and procedures.
  • Participate in registration, commencement, and other required activities.
  • Serve on college committees.
  • Support and contribute to the accomplishment of ASU Mid-South's vision, mission, and goals.
