Job description

Tectonic is currently seeking a full-time Office Engineer for exciting upcoming projects in Glastonbury, CT and the surrounding areas! Join a leading ENR Top 500 firm and take your career to the next level by working on impactful and high-visibility infrastructure projects across the region. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions of this position include preparing and maintaining all project documentation and correspondence using ConnDOT approved filing systems and preparing project status reports as needed, as well as reviewing requirements, plans and specifications, and the hierarchy of contract documents. The Office Engineer is also responsible for also receiving technical submittals, RFIs, memos, letters, construction orders, estimates, and drawings, and preparing contractor pay estimates, which involves tracking quantities, reconciling daily inspection reports, and related documentation. Essential functions also include reviewing and monitoring contract compliance items, including, but not limited to subcontract approval, wage checks, insurance, labor reports, etc. to ensure that contractors are compliant with required policies and procedures, performing site inspections as needed to obtain field measurements and to review records, attended required meetings and preparing the associated meeting minutes, as well as all other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; ConnDOT or other DOT experience on federally funded projects is desired;
  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering/equivalent or valid NICET Level II or higher preferred;
  • Ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations, and to review and interpret plans and specifications;
  • Ability to prepare change orders, material testing reports, filling and considerable knowledge in establishing and maintaining project records;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform administration using Site Manager and/or Project Wise;
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • A valid driver's license and a personal vehicle for site inspections.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the essential functions of this position, it is frequently necessary to:
  • Assume a stationary position;
  • Handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job;
  • Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients using Company email and telephone systems;
  • Occasionally move around on the job-site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning oneself appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, usually for prolonged periods of time,
  • Lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. for some types of monitoring and inspections occasionally as needed,
  • Good visual skills, including focused depth perception for performing inspections, and
  • Occasional daily operation of a motor-vehicle or use of public transportation, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.
Employees may also be required to undergo substance abuse testing in accordance with project requirements, US DOT Regulations, and/or Company policy. The employee may occasionally be required to operate a computer, as well as other related office machinery, such as calculators, printers, and copy machines. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job. PAY RANGE
Tectonic’s goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitably across all positions Companywide. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate’s work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position.
