Job description

Mastronardi Produce pioneered the commercial greenhouse industry in North America, and we're now the leading greenhouse vegetable company on the continent. Our award-winning, flavorful produce is packed under the SUNSETยฎ brand and is available at leading grocery retailers across North America. Family owned for over 70 years, we pride ourselves on having the most flavorful products and the best people in the industry. We are constantly pushing boundaries to be a leader in fresh produce innovation. We seek individuals that demonstrate our PRIDE values (Passion, Respect, Innovation, Drive, Excellence) to help us fulfill our mission to inspire healthy living through WOW flavor experiences.
Our corporate office in Livonia Michigan is currently seeking an AI and Automation Analyst to join our team. The AI & Automation Analyst is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting automation and AI-enabled solutions that improve how business teams across Mastronardi operate. The role focuses on identifying opportunities to apply automation, analytics, and AI to workflows across departments - including Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Corporate Applications - and delivering solutions that are practical, reliable, and easy to adopt. This is a hands-on individual contributor role: the Analyst builds and configures solutions directly, working closely with business stakeholders and IT teams, with accountability for production-ready outcomes that are integrated, governed, and aligned with established control, audit, and security requirements.
Values:
To perform the job successfully, the incumbent's behavior must be consistent with the PRIDE values expected of all Mastronardi Produce employees: be Passionate; have Respect; be Innovative; be Driven and strive for Excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Partner with business stakeholders across departments to translate objectives and operational pain points into practical, scalable automation and AI solutions.
  • Map and document current-state business processes to identify inefficiencies, manual steps, and automation opportunities before designing solutions.
  • Design, build, and deploy automation and AI solutions directly, spanning workflows such as reporting, reconciliations, data entry, and transactional support.
  • Test solutions thoroughly before deployment, including functional testing, edge case validation, and business user acceptance testing to ensure outputs are accurate and reliable.
  • Identify and build reusable automation components that can be applied across multiple business processes and departments.
  • Apply AI to support data preparation, validation, analysis, exception identification, and reporting assistance.
  • Ensure AI outputs are auditable and meet relevant controls and compliance requirements.
  • Define success metrics for each solution and track adoption, performance, and operational impact post-deployment.
  • Work closely with business users to gather feedback, drive adoption, and continuously improve solutions through ongoing enhancements and hands-on training.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for all solutions, workflows, and operating procedures.
  • Ensure all solutions align with IT governance, security, and compliance standards.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions with department stakeholders to build and prioritize a backlog of automation and AI opportunities based on business impact and feasibility.
  • Provide first-line troubleshooting and support for deployed solutions, escalating complex technical issues to the AI Engineer or Cloud Operations & Infrastructure as needed.
  • Coach and upskill business users on how to safely and effectively use AI tools (e.g., Claude, Microsoft Copilot) in their day-to-day work.

Education/Background Requirements:
  • At least 5 years experience in AI/Automation
  • Diploma/Degree in related discipline
  • Experience working directly in a business operations function, or in a technical role supporting business operations (Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience translating business pain points into automation and AI solutions used in day-to-day operations.
  • Process mapping: experience documenting current-state workflows, identifying manual steps and inefficiencies, and defining requirements before building automation.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Testing and validation: disciplined approach to testing automation and AI solutions including functional testing, edge case validation, and user acceptance testing before teams rely on outputs.
  • Agentic AI awareness: understanding of AI agents and multi-step autonomous workflows - what they are, where they apply across the business, and how to evaluate or implement tools in this space as the technology matures.
  • Intelligent document processing: experience using AI to extract, classify, and validate data from business documents such as invoices, purchase orders, and shipment paperwork - whether through platform tools or AI models.
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools in a business context - including Claude (Anthropic), Microsoft Copilot (M365), or equivalent - with the ability to design and refine prompts that produce reliable, consistent, and auditable outputs.
  • Microsoft Power Automate: designing and deploying automated workflows that connect systems, route approvals, trigger actions based on business events, and reduce manual handoffs.
  • Power BI: building dashboards, reports, and data models; working knowledge of DAX and Power Query expected.
  • Python: scripting for data processing, transformation, and automation using common libraries (pandas, openpyxl, or equivalent).
  • SQL: ability to query, join, and filter data across relational databases in support of reporting, reconciliation, and analysis.
  • Microsoft Excel (advanced): strong working knowledge including Power Query and formula-based automation as a baseline for identifying and replacing manual processes.
  • ERP Systems: experience working in or building automation around ERP platforms (Microsoft Dynamics NAV/365, SAP, or equivalent); understanding of data structures and integration points.
  • Change management and communication skills: comfortable presenting solutions to non-technical stakeholders, building buy-in, and delivering hands-on training.
  • Familiarity with data privacy and confidentiality considerations when handling business, financial, or personal data within automation and AI workflows.
  • Ability to manage several concurrent automation/AI initiatives across different departments, balancing competing priorities and deadlines.

Working Conditions:
  • Typical office environment.
