Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Business Office Manager supervises the Patient Services staff within the surgical department of the practice. This position requires a strong leader with the ability to lead, develop, and motivate staff to ensure optimal efficiency and deliver the highest quality of patient care.
POSITION LOCATION: 7747 W Jefferson Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and guide staff to ensure consistency in performance and improve efficiencies.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, ensuring timely patient services.
  • Verify accuracy of data entry of patient insurance, charge entry, and payment balances on a daily and monthly basis.
  • Help maintain inventory of all medications and supplies to ensure office is well stocked accordingly.
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide additional training as necessary.
  • Assist staff in their essential responsibilities, as necessary.
  • Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff.
  • Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the office manager and doctor(s).

WHAT WE OFFER:
  • Annual salary: $45,000-$50,000
  • 6.5 paid holidays per year + 2 floating holidays
  • Approximately 10 days of PTO within first year

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High school graduate, or equivalent
  • Previous experience in ophthalmology is preferred.
  • Previous experience with supervision is preferred.
  • Previous experience in medical coding/billing is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (per ADA guidelines):
  • Physical Activity: Standing for sustained periods of time, Talking, Hearing.
  • Physical requirements: Light work.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform each activity.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:
  • Staff members are required to meet training expectations within the initial 90-day orientation period.
  • Obtaining certification in ophthalmic field is encouraged. The company will provide assistance to all employees eligible for the Employee Career Development Program
