Job Description
Tennessee State University is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant IV for the Department of Accounting, Economics, and Finance.
Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant is crucial in the newly merged Department of Accounting, Economics, and Finance. This position streamlines operations by managing clerical tasks, coordinating departmental activities, and facilitating communication between faculty and students. With dedicated administrative support, the department can maintain high-quality academic offerings and enhance student engagement, ultimately contributing to the College's mission of excellence.
Essential Job Functions
1. Assists the Department of Accounting, Economics, and Finance and the Dean's Office with administrative duties.
2. Composes non-routine correspondence, prepares meeting agendas, attends meetings, keeps records, and prepares drafts of meeting minutes for administrative review.
3. Keeps student, personnel, financial, statistical, and other important records for the Department of Accounting, Economics, and Finance.
4. Maintains and reviews interactions and correspondence, memoranda, and reports.
5. Prepares travel arrangements for the department chair and faculty.
6. Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Graduation from high school or equivalency (GED) and a minimum of three years of administrative experience.
2. Must possess effective interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
3. Ability to manage multiple projects and time effectively; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to compose a variety of memoranda or letters with only general instructions; and to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, employees, and alumni.
4. Knowledge of Microsoft Suite products as well as phone systems is required.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Graduation from high school or equivalency (GED) and a minimum of three years of administrative experience.
2. Must possess effective interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
3. Ability to manage multiple projects and time effectively; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to compose a variety of memoranda or letters with only general instructions; and to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, employees, and alumni.
