Description/Job Summary
The Microsoft Teams, SharePoint & Office 365 Solutions Administrator serves as the technical lead for Baltimore City Community College's Microsoft 365 collaboration environment. Reporting to the ITS Infrastructure Manager, this position is responsible for the administration, governance, security, optimization, and support of Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, and related Microsoft 365 services.
The incumbent ensures the availability, security, compliance, and effective use of enterprise collaboration technologies while advancing the College's strategic initiatives in digital transformation, student success, workforce development, and hybrid learning. This position serves as the primary subject matter expert for collaboration, content management, digital workplace technologies, and productivity solutions.
Responsibilities/Duties
Platform Administration & Configuration
  • Administer, configure, and optimize Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Copilot, and related Microsoft 365 collaboration services
  • Manage Teams policies, channels, permissions, meeting and calling services, Teams Phone, external collaboration, and guest access
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain the College intranet and SharePoint-based collaboration solutions
  • Administer SharePoint site collections, communication sites, departmental portals, document libraries, lists, metadata, and information architecture
  • Manage Microsoft 365 licensing, user provisioning and deprovisioning, and service administration
  • Plan and execute migrations of legacy file shares and departmental content to SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 platforms

Governance, Security & Compliance
  • Develop, implement, and enforce governance frameworks for Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Microsoft Copilot, and Microsoft 365 collaboration services
  • Establish and maintain standards for site provisioning, naming conventions, content lifecycle management, records retention, and information architecture
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA, ADA accessibility standards, institutional policies, and applicable data privacy and security requirements
  • Develop and maintain governance policies and standards that promote the secure, ethical, and compliant use of Microsoft Copilot and related technologies

Integration & Automation
  • Integrate Microsoft 365 collaboration tools with enterprise applications, learning management systems, and institutional technologies, including Canvas and Ellucian Banner
  • Design, implement, and maintain Power Platform solutions utilizing Power Automate, Power Apps, and related services
  • Automate workflows and business processes to improve operational efficiency, collaboration, and service delivery
  • Evaluate, implement, and support emerging Microsoft technologies, including Copilot and technology solutions that advance institutional objectives
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation and digital transformation

User Support & Training
  • Provide advanced Tier II and Tier III technical support for Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms
  • Serve as the College's subject matter expert for Microsoft collaboration, content management, digital workplace, and Office 365 productivity technologies
  • Develop and maintain user guides, FAQs, knowledge base articles, training materials, and standard operating procedures
  • Design and deliver workshops, training sessions, and user adoption initiatives for faculty, staff, and administrators
  • Promote effective utilization of Microsoft 365, Copilot, and Office productivity tools through change management and user engagement activities
  • Provide technical consultation and guidance to departmental stakeholders regarding collaboration solutions and best practices

Project Implementation & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead or participate in projects involving Microsoft 365 collaboration technologies, migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives
  • Analyze platform usage, adoption trends, performance metrics, and user feedback to recommend improvements
  • Monitor Microsoft product roadmaps and emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies
  • Support institutional digital transformation initiatives through the implementation of innovative technology solutions
  • Evaluate, pilot, and deploy new Microsoft 365 collaboration, automation, and Office 365 capabilities to enhance organizational effectiveness

Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Professional certifications strongly considered

Experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience administering Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms, including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and related services
  • Experience implementing governance, security, compliance, and user adoption strategies within Microsoft 365 environments
  • Experience supporting enterprise collaboration technologies in a complex organizational setting

Demonstrated proficiency in:
  • Microsoft 365 Administration Center

Preferred Qualifications
  • Higher education technology experience supporting academic, administrative, and student-facing collaboration services
  • Experience integrating Microsoft 365 with Canvas, Ellucian Banner, and other enterprise applications
  • Knowledge of FERPA requirements related to data privacy, security, and information governance
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and digital equity practices in educational environments
  • Experience leading technology projects, migrations, and organizational change initiatives

Desired Certifications
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate (MS-700) or successor certification
  • Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900) or equivalent Microsoft 365 certification
  • Additional Microsoft certifications related to Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Azure/Entra, Security, or Collaboration Technologies
