What is OEM marketing?

OEM marketing refers to the strategies and activities used by companies that manufacture products to be rebranded and sold by other companies (Original Equipment Manufacturers). It involves building partnerships with other businesses, promoting the value of OEM solutions, and supporting the private labeling or integration of products. OEM marketers focus on business-to-business (B2B) relationships, product customization, and ensuring the end products meet the specifications of partner brands.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an OEM marketing professional?

To thrive as an OEM Marketing professional, you need a strong background in marketing strategy, relationship management, and industry-specific knowledge, often supported by a degree in marketing or business. Familiarity with CRM platforms, market analysis tools, and experience in OEM partnership management are typically required. Excellent negotiation, communication, and project management skills help you build and maintain effective collaborations with OEM partners. These skills are essential for driving successful go-to-market strategies, fostering long-term partnerships, and achieving business growth in competitive markets.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in OEM marketing roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in OEM Marketing often face the challenge of aligning marketing strategies with the unique needs and timelines of their manufacturing partners. Balancing the requirements of multiple stakeholders—such as engineering, product management, and external OEM clients—can be complex and requires strong communication skills. Staying up-to-date with market trends and technological advancements is essential to ensure that marketing initiatives effectively support product launches. Building strong cross-functional relationships and maintaining flexibility in planning can help address these challenges and drive successful collaboration.

  • Partner with Client Services, Production, and other internal teams to ensure successful campaign execution.

  • Conduct dealership visits, business reviews, and training as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of experience in automotive digital marketing, automotive retail, automotive media, advertising, or SaaS

  • Experience in a client-facing, consultative, account management, or marketing strategy role

  • Strong understanding of automotive digital marketing, including websites, paid media, lead generation, conversion, and customer retention

  • Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to develop marketing recommendations

  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills

  • Strong organization, follow-through, and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory and occasionally nationally

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Why Team Velocity?

  • Earn more: Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission and bonus opportunities, with OTE up to $190,000.
  • Work remotely: This is a remote, field-based position with flexibility and autonomy.
  • Make an impact: Your recommendations directly influence dealership sales, service revenue, customer retention, and profitability.
  • Work with powerful technology: Team Velocity’s proprietary Apollo® platform uses data and consumer behavior to help dealerships identify opportunities and deliver more personalized marketing.
  • Build executive relationships: Work directly with dealer principals, GMs, and senior dealership leadership.
  • Comprehensive benefits: Medical, dental, vision, wellness, 401(k), and more.
