Position: Transportation Control Tower Analyst โ€“ Ocean Location: Franklin, TN (100% Onsite) Duration: 6-12 Months Contract Pay range: $40.00-$43.00 per hour on W2 Schedule: On site for first month of training, transition to hybrid schedule after Job Description:
  • We are seeking a skilled and analytical Transportation Control Tower Analyst โ€“ Ocean to join our global logistics team, overseeing and optimizing international ocean freight operations across import and export flows. This role focuses on end to end ocean shipment visibility, exception management, carrier performance, and issue resolution across ports, terminals, and inland connections.
  • The ideal candidate will serve as a central coordination point between carriers, freight forwarders, ports, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders to ensure on time, cost effective, and compliant ocean transportation while proactively managing disruptions in the global supply chain.
Key Responsibilities: Ocean Freight Operations
  • Monitor and manage international ocean shipments (FCL, LCL) from port of origin through final inland delivery.
  • Track vessel schedules, port congestion, ETA changes, rollovers, and capacity constraints.
  • Actively manage shipment exceptions such as missed sailings, port delays, demurrage, detention, and customs holds.
  • Ensure timely coordination of pre carriage and on carriage movements, including drayage and intermodal handoffs.
Carrier, Forwarder & Port Coordination
  • Serve as primary liaison with ocean carriers, NVOCCs, freight forwarders, port terminals, drayage providers, and SE's LLP Uber Freight.
  • Monitor carrier performance against KPIs including on time arrival, transit reliability, and exception frequency.
  • Support carrier allocation and service lane strategies with procurement and network teams.
Exception Management & Case Resolution
  • Manage ocean shipment issues within a control tower case management framework.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Communicate impacts and recovery plans to stakeholders.
Data Analysis & Performance Reporting
  • Analyze ocean transportation data to identify trends, risks, and improvement areas.
  • Develop dashboards and KPI reporting using Power BI or Tableau.
  • Provide actionable insights to leadership.
Cost Optimization
  • Identify opportunities to reduce ocean freight and accessorial costs.
  • Support rate analysis and carrier performance reviews.
  • Monitor and dispute demurrage and detention charges.
Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure compliance with international trade and customs regulations.
  • Validate accuracy of Bills of Lading and shipping documentation.
  • Support customs clearance issue resolution.
Process Improvement & Projects
  • Drive process improvements to enhance visibility and predictability.
  • Support system enhancements, carrier onboarding, and workflow standardization.
Must have:
  • Must have the Ocean Freight Experience for this role
  • Experience with TMS, control tower platforms, and BI tools
  • Global control tower experience
  • Knowledge of demurrage/detention management
  • APICS or CSCMP certification
  • Advanced Power BI or Tableau skills
