Job description

SUMMARY
The Maintenance Assistant at NWI Defense, Albany, OR will performs routine and light preventive maintenance, janitorial duties, supports production amp; shipping as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES amp; ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following:
  • Primary responsibility is to assist the and Facilities/Maintenance Team in maintenance amp; facilities work.
  • Supporting production needs is the highest priority and may require extended hours, adjusted shifts or required overtime to ensure we meet our customer commitments.
  • Assists in maintaining a weekly walk-thru list noting all facility supply needs and completes required checklists.
  • Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
  • Maintains building and grounds by performing routine minor painting, plumbing, electrical, and other preventive maintenance.
  • Performs a variety of carpentry functions.
  • Minor maintenance for forging presses amp; furnaces.
  • Weekly or monthly preventive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Material Handling: Assist with scrap recovery activities.
  • Occasional use of Forklift.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Maintains equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing required paperwork etc.
  • Participate in required meetings amp; trainings.
  • Able to cross train into other departments as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • General experience in maintenance activities
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Required: Valid Driver’s License
  • Forklift Certificate (will train in-house)
