ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

SUMMARY: Under general supervision, Student Assistant A is responsible for assisting with various tasks. This position is designed to provide opportunities to students to hone customer service skills, team development, and foster professional growth.

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

  • Typical duties may include, general office, tutoring, research projects, washing dishes, food preparation, serving food, waiting tables, cashiering, custodial, groundwork, receiving and stocking orders/items.
  • Provide a good balance of technical and people skills with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Prepare documents/materials as necessary.
  • Possess the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, handle confidential materials appropriately, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of accuracy.
  • Assist individuals via phone, email or in person.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Must be able to communicate regularly with direct supervisor all work status updates as well as task completions.
  • The student office assistant must possess the ability to work well with staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Cal Poly Pomona student in good academic standing.
  • Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, Hospitality Management, Kinesiology, or related major preferred.
  • Strong interest in nutrition, food safety, and supporting students with special dietary needs.
  • Knowledge of food allergies, dietary restrictions, and prevention of allergen cross-contact.
