Job description

Overview of Position

As a Nutrition & Program Support Specialist, you will leverage your expertise in nutrition and wellness to provide personalized support across multiple communication channels, including phone, email, and SMS. Working collaboratively with Coaches, Clients, Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, and internal partners, you will ensure every interaction aligns with Medifast's standards of excellence and contributes to sustained Client success. This role requires strong analytical thinking, empathy, professionalism, and a deep understanding of health and behavior change principles.

Job Responsibilities
  • Client-Centric Guidance: Offer comprehensive program and product support through one-on-one consultations via phone, SMS, and email. Guidance is tailored based on individual Client needs, including age, weight, nutrient requirements, knowledge, abilities, medical conditions, economic situations, and personal preferences.
  • Expert Support: Provide in-depth nutritional, behavioral, exercise, program, and product support to Coaches and Client.
  • Education and Empowerment: Educate Coaches and Clients on medical weight loss, OPTAVIA's programs, plans, products, and kits. Refer Clients to our telehealth partner when appropriate.
  • Health Documentation: Collect and document all health questions reported by Coaches and Clients.
  • Professional Communication: Maintain a friendly, professional, and caring demeanor in all communications with Coaches, Clients, and co-workers, adhering to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Wellness Support: Assist and educate Coaches and Clients on a variety of health and wellness topics, including weight loss, weight maintenance, exercise, and behavior modification.
  • Collaboration with Experts: Work closely with our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists and Scientific & Clinical Affairs team to ensure that all information provided is nutritionally accurate and evidence-based. Consult with the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist team as needed to achieve the best outcomes for Coaches and Clients.
  • Corporate Wellness Initiatives: Support and promote employee-centric corporate wellness programs and healthy lifestyle initiatives. Participate in regional events, conventions, conferences, and other duties or projects as assigned.
Scope

This role supports a high-volume national Client base and requires the ability to manage multiple inquiries efficiently while maintaining accuracy and service excellence. Although the role carries no direct supervisory responsibilities, the Specialist serves as a subject-matter expert who influences Client outcomes, Coach readiness, and program adherence. The position operates within a collaborative, cross-functional environment that relies on sound judgment, strong communication, and the ability to interpret and convey complex nutritional information clearly.

Knowledge, Education, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, health, or a related wellness field required; alternatively, DTR/NDTR credential accepted.
  • Preferred credentials include Dietetic Technician, Registered; Licensed Nutritionist; or certifications such as Health Coach or CPT through ACE, NASM, or similar reputable organizations.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in nutrition, wellness, health coaching, or a related field.
  • Strong ability to interpret and organize information, apply critical thinking, and deliver guidance across varied knowledge levels.
  • Demonstrated empathy, active listening, and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate multiple software platforms and maintain confidentiality of sensitive health and company information.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a remote environment.
  • Must maintain a reliable high-speed internet connection and be able to commute to the Baltimore office upon request.
  • Travel requirement: up to 5%.
  • The salary range for this position is: $62,708.00 - $84,840.24
