Job description

Job Title: Donor Service Associate


Full-time $16-$19/hr.

Monday through Friday 8 am - 4 pm

Paid time off

10 annual holidays

401(k)

The Mothers’ Milk Bank of Florida is a non-profit organization whose mission is to accept, pasteurize, and dispense donor human milk by health care provider prescription primarily to premature and ill infants. Founded in 2011, we are Florida's community milk bank and accredited by the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA).

DONOR SERVICE ASSOCIATE

 

Education and skills:

  • GED, High school education or higher.
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant preferred
  • Read and write English fluently (Spanish language skills are an asset).
  • Ability to follow complex written and oral instructions.
  • Detail oriented and accurate.
  • Team player with a passion for maternal and child health.
  • Basic computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to routinely lift 25 pounds.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, think critically, and respond promptly to daily correspondence without compromising quality of service.
  • Flexibility in supporting other duties as assigned.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Coordinate with Director of Donor Services

  • Communicating with donors and donor candidates via text, telephone, email and US postal mail in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Screen and qualify mothers milk donors according to current standards of HMBANA (on the job training).
  • Screening of potential milk donors (on the job training) with sensitivity as they share their medical histories and lifestyles and is especially empathetic with grieving mothers’ milk donors following the loss of a baby.
  • Managing milk donor appreciation including individual recognition.
  • Sending appropriate paperwork, information, and supplies necessary via fax, postal mail, email and or shipping organization.
  • Communicating with physician office staff regarding donor screening needs.
  • Managing donor files and databases. 


Community Relations

Promote good relations with all those who interface with the milk bank, including donor and recipient families, health care providers, hospital administrators, financial supporters, and others as appropriate, through professional verbal and written communication. This responsibility includes welcoming visitors to the milk bank and providing tours of the facility.

The use of pasteurized donor human milk, when maternal supply needs to be augmented, is the standard of care in greater than 90% of the level 3 neonatal intensive care units in Florida.
