Department
Department of Health, Nutrition, and Food Science in the Anne Spencer Daves College Education, Health, and Human Sciences
Responsibilities
  • Maintain a nationally recognized (and internationally recognized for Associate Professor applicants), extramurally funded research program in clinical and translational nutrition that advances the department's research mission.
  • Conduct high-impact research that complements and expands departmental strengths in clinical and translational nutrition, metabolism, cardiovascular health, dietary nutrients and bioactive compounds, microbiome science, exercise and nutritional physiology, skeletal muscle biology, immunity, and healthy aging.
  • Recruit, mentor, and supervise graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and other research trainees.
  • Develop collaborative research partnerships across FSU Health, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH), and affiliated clinical and community-based organizations, including opportunities within the FSU Health Research and Collaboration Building.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas aligned with disciplinary expertise.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and innovation to enhance student learning and workforce readiness.
  • Participate in departmental, college, university, and professional service activities.
  • Engage in community outreach and translational activities that promote nutrition, health, and disease prevention and/or management.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Nutrition, Physiology, or a closely related field.
  • Appropriate postdoctoral training or equivalent research experience.
  • Demonstrated success in teaching, research, and service commensurate with rank.
  • Evidence of the potential to obtain extramural funding (Assistant Professor) or a demonstrated record of extramural funding to support an independent research program (Associate Professor).
  • Strong record of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience conducting human clinical research and/or experience working in healthcare or community-engaged research relevant to clinical and translational science.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Priority will be given to candidates with established or emerging expertise and leadership in clinical and translational nutrition research related to dietary patterns, phytochemicals and nutrients, precision nutrition, metabolism and metabolomics, nutritional physiology and pharmacology, cardiometabolic and gastrointestinal health, body composition, nutrition-related chronic disease, and/or eating and ingestive behavior.
  • Evidence of a successful externally funded research program, with preference given to candidates with current or prior federal funding.
  • Experience working within interdisciplinary research teams and collaborative research environments.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential preferred.
  • Evidence of effective teaching and mentoring.
  • Experience in healthcare settings and/or community-engaged research relevant to clinical and translational science.

Florida State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Clinical Nutrition at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We seek scholars with strong research programs that complement the department's strengths in nutrition, metabolism, exercise physiology, food science, cardiovascular health, gut microbiome, skeletal muscle biology, immunity, and healthy aging.
