Maureen Joy is seeking a Child Nutrition Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Opportunity:
At Maureen Joy Charter School, we foster a K-8 learning environment that thrives on supporting the
whole child and dedication to our families. We are currently seeking a skilled nutrition assistant to
support meal service for our students. If you excel in a fast-paced setting and are passionate about food,
your expertise is needed here!

Who You Are:
As a Child Nutrition Assistant, you are passionate about supporting students by serving them healthy
meals. You are able to communicate clearly and work well in a team setting. You complete work
autonomously, and notice what needs to be done. You are conscientious about upholding food safety
standards.

Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED or comparable
  • Food service experience and knowledge of food safety standards is preferred
Key Responsibilities
  • Follow written work and cleaning schedules as assigned
  • Account for meals served by accurately using a computerized point of sale (POS System)
  • Know the federal requirements for reimbursable meals
  • Accurately complete the cashier's sheet at the end of meal service with all transactions properly
    recorded
  • Assist with receiving food deliveries and bringing food into the school
  • Understand and uphold the collection procedure approved for the school
  • Assist with inventory management
  • Prepare snack for after school programs daily
  • Follow procedures for the proper use and care for all equipment in the Child Nutrition Program
  • Follow regular sanitation and food safety procedures
  • Communicate positively with school staff, students, and meal caterer staff
  • Have the ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs
  • Perform all other assigned duties
Reporting Structure
You will report to the school’s Director of Child Nutrition, working closely with her to ensure the smooth
operation of the school’s nutrition services.
Compensation
This position will be compensated in alignment with the DPS Child Nutrition Assistant pay scale.
