Job description

School Nurse for the 2026-2027 School Year

Promotes and protects the optimal health status of students. Provides health assessments. Screens and evaluates findings of deficit in vision, hearing, scoliosis, growth, etc. Identifies abnormal health findings. Implements student health plan. Interprets the health status of students to parents and school personnel. Initiates referrals to parents, school personnel or community health resources for interventions, remediation and follow through. Utilizes existing health resources to provide appropriate care of students. Implements procedures and provides for emergency nursing management for injuries/illnesses. Promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases. Treats confidential information and sensitive situations with discretion. Presents a professional image when representing the school district through word, action and dress. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. Performs other duties as requested and required.

State of Georgia Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse Certification.

Ability to make (quick and methodical) decisions pertaining to critical care of students and employees. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent organizational skills to include specificity with documentation of records. Ability and knowledge to work effectively as a nurse/paramedic in a school setting.

Previous experience working as a nurse preferred. Must hold minimum of LPN licensure.
