Advertised Position Title:
Instructor, Nursing
Job Description:
The instructor for the Nursing Program will plan, direct and supervise the learning experiences of Registered Nursing and/or Practical Nursing students in the classroom, the nursing laboratory and the clinical setting relating to medical/surgical and geriatric experiences. The instructor will design and implement teaching strategies that will assist a nursing student to meet the course objectives or outcomes; supervise the activities of clinical/lab instructors and evaluate each nursing student's achievement and progress with input from the clinical/lab instructor or preceptor.
Essential Functions:
  • Article 7 of the Owens Faculty Association Contract

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Must be familiar with the Ohio Board of Nursing rules and regulations.
  • Clinical practice skills within the last two years, must be familiar with new clinical practices within the scope of a registered nurse in a medical/surgical/geriatric unit(s).
  • Must be able to communicate with students, faculty and administration. Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have a positive personality, interact well with students, faculty and administration. Positive attitude.

Education/Experience:
  • Master's degree with a focus in Nursing.
  • Completion of a State Board of Nursing approved Registered Nursing education program; Current, valid, unencumbered license to practice Registered Nursing in the State of Ohio; at least two years in the practice of nursing as a Registered Nurse w; at least two years' experience teaching in an Associate Degree Registered Nursing program with emphasis on Medical/Surgical and Geriatric instruction.
