Duties and Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for developing, reviewing, and overseeing individualized care plans for clients receiving non-medical home care services. This role includes supervisory visits, caregiver training, and quality assurance responsibilities. The RN ensures that care provided is consistent with the client’s needs and adheres to regulatory and agency standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessments of clients to develop person-centered care plans
- Review and update care plans regularly or as client conditions change
- Perform supervisory visits to clients’ homes to assess caregiver performance and ensure care plan compliance
- Provide guidance, support, and in-service training to caregivers
- Document assessments, updates, and supervisory visits according to regulatory and agency requirements
- Communicate with clients, families, and agency staff to coordinate and adjust care as needed
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards of practice
- Participate in quality assurance activities and assist with audits or surveys
Qualifications
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum of 1–2 years of nursing experience (home care or geriatric care preferred)
- Strong assessment and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to supervise and support non-clinical staff
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for home visits
- Familiarity with state home care regulations and best practices
