Overview

Job Summary: 

The Quality Director provides leadership in the planning and delivery of quality management throughout the hospital.

Responsible for the overall management of the Quality, Performance Improvement and Risk departments. Leads and manages all aspects of the daily operations including financial/resource management, quality, performance improvement and personnel management. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Develops, implements and evaluates budget and department policy.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Directs the strategic planning and organizational goal setting process for the Quality Management Department.
  • Prepares and oversees the annual budget for the Quality Management department.
  • Coordinates the annual evaluation process for all Quality Management staff.
  • Develops and coordinates various contracts with agencies regarding regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as the liaison for the Medical Staff and Administration regarding the Quality Management program.
  • Directs activities associated with accreditation and regulatory.
  • Directs the hospital risk management program.
  • Works closely with Infection Control team in identification of opportunities for reduction of Hospital Associated Infections.
  • Directs Patient Safety and Safety functions of the hospital.
  • Serves as a resource for hospital leaders regarding accreditation, quality and safety issues.
  • Interviews, hires, counsels, disciplines if necessary and evaluate performance of Quality Management employees.
  • Attends and presents quality information to appropriate committees, teams and departments.
  • Coordinates hospital sentinel event program.
  • Coordinates organization's performance improvement initiatives.
  • Leads performance improvement projects.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:

    Education:  Degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Health Services or related fields such as Project Management, Masters Degree preferred.

    Experience: Minimum (5) years experience in Quality Management, Performance Improvement or related area. Working knowledge of hospital accreditation and regulatory requirements. Excellent communication skills necessary with ability to make presentations and conduct training sessions as necessary. Data analysis and knowledge of word processing, excel spreadsheets and graphics applications.
