A CSCS is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. You can earn this certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). As an NSCA CSCS, you specialize in training athletes to help them improve their fitness and, ultimately, their performance on the field of play. A CSCS can work with professional and amateur athletes in all age groups. Many CSCSs work with athletes in a specific sport, but you can also train in a general capacity. To obtain this accreditation, you need to complete a bachelor’s degree program in any subject, and you need to get CPR and AED certification. Finally, you need to pass the NSCA exam.
