Job description

The Director, Enterprise Quality Management Systems (QMS) is responsible for defining, establishing, governing, and executing the enterprise-wide quality strategy.ย  The role drives and oversees the comprehensive quality management system that ensures products, services, and operational processes meet regulatory standards, customer expectations, and business objectives across all Malibu Boats brands, business units, and manufacturing locations. This position provides strategic leadership for quality governance, policy deployment, compliance management, audit systems, quality risk management, and enterprise quality standards.

Unlike operational continuous improvement roles focused on process optimization and productivity gains, this position serves as the enterprise owner of the Quality Management System and is accountable for ensuring consistent quality practices, governance, compliance, and quality system effectiveness throughout the organization. Successful candidates will be capable of translating business strategies into specific short/medium plans and drive QMS execution throughout regions and mfg. sites.

The Director provides leadership for enterprise quality standards, management review processes, quality system maturity, and regulatory compliance while developing a long-term quality culture that protects customers, employees, products, and the Malibu brand.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Quality Governance

  • Establish and communicate the enterprise quality vision, strategy, and policies to be aligned with company/brand goals.
  • Establish a roadmap, including quality standards, policies, procedures, and governance frameworks across operations and supply chain.
  • Deploy and maintain the enterprise Quality Management System strategy in phases.
  • Serve as the designated enterprise authority for QMS governance and quality system effectiveness.
  • Establish quality governance councils and management review processes across all business units.
  • Lead the development of long-range quality maturity plans and quality system roadmaps.
  • Ensure consistent application of quality standards across all brands and manufacturing locations.

Quality System Ownership

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Sr. Manager, QMS Program and related quality system resources.
  • Define enterprise requirements for document control, change management, records retention, and procedural governance.
  • Establish standardized quality processes and enterprise quality requirements.
  • Review and approve enterprise-level quality procedures and policy changes.
  • Ensure integration of quality requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

Audit, Compliance & Certification Management

  • Serve as executive owner for enterprise audit programs.
  • Direct internal audit strategy, scheduling, governance, and corrective action systems.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Oversee third-party certification activities and registrar relationships.
  • Monitor organizational compliance and escalate significant risks to executive leadership.
  • Ensure recurring management reviews are conducted and documented according to established standards.

Enterprise Quality Risk Management

  • Develop enterprise quality risk management methodologies.
  • Lead identification and mitigation of systemic quality risks.
  • Investigate the use of tools like APQP, including DFMEA/PFMEA and Controls Plan for NPI/ECNโ€™s
  • Establish governance for CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) effectiveness.
  • Monitor leading and lagging quality indicators to proactively identify emerging risks.
  • Direct enterprise quality risk assessments involving products, suppliers, manufacturing processes, and customer experience.

Quality Performance and Improvement Management

  • Establish enterprise quality scorecards and executive reporting systems.
  • Develop quality-related KPIs focused on system effectiveness, compliance, customer quality performance, audit health, and risk reduction.
  • Present quality performance trends and strategic recommendations for executive leadership.
  • Drive accountability for quality objectives at all organizational levels.
  • Establish and drive measurable improvement roadmaps tied to cost, quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction.

Quality Culture and Organizational Capability

  • Establish enterprise quality competency requirements.
  • Develop quality leadership development programs.
  • Promote a culture of quality ownership and prevention throughout the organization.
  • Lead enterprise-level quality awareness initiatives.
  • Ensure quality-related training systems remain effective and aligned with business requirements.

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a member of the enterprise quality leadership team.
  • Advise executive leadership regarding quality strategy, governance, compliance, and risk.
  • Participate in acquisition integration activities, new facility launches, and enterprise transformation initiatives as the quality systems authority.
  • Evaluate emerging quality management practices and technologies for organizational adoption.

Education

Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, or related discipline. Master's degree preferred.

Experience

  • 12+ years of progressive quality leadership experience in Quality within industrial manufacturing or similar environments
  • 5+ years leading enterprise quality systems or multi-site quality organizations.
  • Technical and leadership capabilities โ€“ deep knowledge of ISO and other frameworks, good manufacturing practices, enterprise quality systems, strategic planning, decision-making, and executive communication skills.
  • Proven ability to influence senior level stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated deployment of ISO-based (or like) management systems across multiple facilities.
  • Demonstrated success with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams to improve end-to-end performance and waste elimination.
  • Experience in leading external certification audits and regulatory assessments.
  • Experience operating in complex, global, and cross-functional organizations.
  • Proven experience developing quality governance frameworks and compliance programs.
  • Experience presenting quality system performance to executive leadership and boards preferred.
