Position
The Director, Accounting is a hands-on leadership position, providing oversight and guidance on financial and accounting matters, maintaining external financial relationships and managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting team. This role is also responsible for driving financial reporting processes and data-driven decision-making across the business. A key focus of this role is ERP optimization, advancing system automation/implementation of AI to modernize finance operations, enhance accuracy, and enable scalable, high-quality financial insights.
Responsibilities
  • Financial Strategy and Leadership: Oversee the organization's Accounting department, managing and mentoring direct team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and process improvement; develop and implement financial strategies to support the organization's long-term goals.
  • Business Partnering and Decision Support: Collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate new projects or investments; support pricing strategies, cost management and margin optimization; present financial results and provide financial insight to guide operational efficiency and strategic initiatives.
  • Automation and Efficiency: Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of finance systems and automated workflows to drive operational efficiency, enhance data accuracy, reduce manual processes, and support scalable financial operations.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Oversee accounting, reporting and compliance to ensure accurate financial statements and adherence with regulatory requirements; implement robust internal controls to safeguard assets.
  • Asset Management: Safeguard cash flow, capital, and risk exposure through effective treasury and risk management practices.
  • External Relationship Management: Manage key external relationships, including shareholders, supply chain, audit, insurance and banking relationships.

Early Development
After 3 months you will:
  • Learn the NorthStar systems, people and where to go to get the answers you need to do your job
  • Build trust within the team, leadership, and operations.
  • Establish reliable, robust reporting on margins, cost and cash flow
  • Begin building/developing finance team capabilities to support growth

After 6 months you will:
  • Establish reliable, robust reporting on margins, cost and cash flow
  • Standardize core finance processes (month end close, budgeting/forecasting, etc)
  • Implement robust cost accounting process to capture true product and CDMO economics

Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting, and a minimum of ten (10) or more years of progressive experience in accounting, with a minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience required. MBA and/or CPA preferred.

Working Conditions
This role may involve working in a controlled cleanroom environment, general office setting, or specific manufacturing areas. Conditions may include:
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, both indoors (heated/air-conditioned spaces) and outdoors
  • Noise levels range from quiet to loud, depending on the work area
  • Specific vision abilities, including near vision, visual acuity, and color discrimination

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and may include:
  • Respirators, gloves, safety glasses, and full protective clothing
  • Compliance with cleanroom gowning protocols (e.g., removal of all jewelry, including piercings)
  • Prohibition of cosmetics, fragrances (perfume, aftershave), and nail products, including polish, artificial nails, or extensions

As a radiopharmaceutical manufacturing site, radiation may be present in the laboratory and production areas. Employees in this role may be required to:
  • Follow strict radiation safety procedures
  • Participate in dosimetry monitoring and bioassay testing as part of the company protocol
  • Inform leadership of any health conditions that may affect product integrity, by cleanroom standards
