Job description

Northeast Missouri Electric Power Cooperative (Northeast Power) has an immediate opening for an Engineering Procurement Technician at the Palmyra, Missouri location. Northeast Power is a transmission cooperative delivering power to northeast Missouri and southeast Iowa.
This full-time, non-exempt position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys procurement, material coordination, project support and helping ensure critical utility infrastructure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
What You Will Do:
As an Engineering Procurement Technician, you will play an important role in helping utility infrastructure projects stay organized, supplied and on schedule. You will support procurement and material coordination for transmission, substation and related engineering projects while working closely with engineers, project managers, operations personnel, Accounting/Finance and suppliers. In addition, you will:
• Coordinate procurement and material needs for utility infrastructure projects
• Prepare and maintain RFQs, RFPs, bid tabulations, purchase requisitions, procurement records and related project documentation
• Obtain and review vendor quotes, support supplier communications and help track procurement status
• Coordinate project material purchases, deliveries, inventory tracking and material charge-out activities
• Track long-lead equipment and help resolve material shortages, shipping discrepancies and warranty concerns
• Support purchase order processing, invoice reconciliation, vendor agreements, compliance documentation and supplier performance tracking
• Prepare procurement, material tracking and supplier performance updates for project teams and management
• Assist with material forecasting, long-range capital planning, sourcing coordination and procurement process improvements
What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented professional who enjoys coordinating information, supporting projects and helping teams keep important utility work moving. The ideal candidate will bring strong organization, communication and follow-through, along with an interest in procurement, materials and project support. The ideal candidate will have:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in engineering, construction, utility operations, procurement, material coordination or project administration support
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel
• Strong organizational, recordkeeping, written communication and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, review vendor quotations and track project materials
• Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, operations personnel, Accounting/Finance, suppliers and other employees
• Valid Class E or equivalent driver's license and ability to maintain required licensing and insurability
Preferred experience includes:
• Electric utility transmission, substation or distribution projects
• Purchasing, inventory control, materials management, ERP systems, purchasing systems or work management systems
• Utility construction materials and equipment, including transmission, substation, communications, protection and control equipment
• Reading engineering drawings and material specifications
