Associate Program Director & Clinic Director - Family Medicine Residency

This job location is currently located in a Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPS) and/or Medically Underserved Areas/Populations (MUA/P) Shortage Designation Type.

Ascension Wisconsin invites applications from board-certified Family Medicine physicians (ABFM) for an exciting leadership role that combines academic excellence, clinical care, and community impact.

This is a rare opportunity to join a new and growing Family Medicine Residency Program in Milwaukee as both Associate Program Director and Clinic Director of the Villard Family Health Center (FHC).

  • Lead & inspire: protected time as Associate Program Director and Clinic Director, guiding curriculum, mentoring residents, and driving the success of a community-based residency program.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
  • Provides clinical oversight while delivering direct patient care.
  • Leads the Family Medicine Residency curriculum and resident clinical rotations in alignment with ACGME requirements.
  • Oversees clinic operations including equitable scheduling, policy updates, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Conducts regular clinic meetings and collaborates with Ascension Medical Group and Wisconsin leadership on strategic priorities.
  • Reviews clinical documentation and cases for quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Analyzes quality data, audits, and patient experience to design and implement improvements.
  • Mentors clinicians, residents, and faculty; fosters a culture of respect, trust, and professionalism.
  • Serves as liaison for community outreach, patient advisory committees, and engagement activities.
  • Supports innovation in care delivery including telehealth, group visits, and specialty clinics.
  • Participates as faculty (Clinical or Core) in the Ascension Family Medicine Residency Program.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
Additional Preferences
  • Board-certified Family Medicine physician (ABFM).
  • Strong commitment to medical education, community health, and resident mentorship.
  • Previous academic or leadership experience is welcome, but not required
