  • Provide legal guidance on nonprofit governance, charitable compliance, corporate filings, internal policies, and organizational risk management
  • Support compliance efforts related to nonprofit operations, affordable housing programs, education initiatives, community programs, media operations, fundraising, and grant-funded work
  • Partner with HR and leadership on employment-related matters, including workplace policies, employee relations, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, accommodations, investigations, and separation matters
  • Assist with real estate, housing, and property-related legal issues, including leases, development documents, regulatory requirements, and coordination with outside counsel
  • Manage and coordinate outside counsel on specialized matters, including litigation, real estate transactions, employment disputes, intellectual property, and regulatory issues
  • Review communications, marketing materials, media content, and public-facing documents for legal risk, compliance, and brand protection
  • Support internal teams with practical legal advice that balances risk, operational needs, and the Foundation's mission
  • Maintain and organize legal records, contract files, corporate documents, governance materials, and compliance calendars
  • Assist with policy development, training, and internal process improvements to strengthen legal and compliance practices across the organization
  • Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments affecting nonprofit organizations, employers, affordable housing operators, media programs, and community-serving organizations

  • Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently as the organization’s primary internal legal resource
  • Comfortable identifying when matters should be escalated to outside counsel or senior leadership
  • Sound judgment, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide clear legal guidance to non-legal stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across departments, programs, and deadlines
  • Interest in working for a mission-driven organization serving working families, farmworkers, Latinos, and underserved communities
