What does a non profit event planner do?

A Non Profit Event Planner is responsible for organizing and coordinating events that support the mission and fundraising efforts of a nonprofit organization. Their tasks include planning logistics, managing budgets, recruiting volunteers, securing sponsors, and promoting events to maximize attendance and donations. They often work closely with staff, board members, and community partners to ensure the event runs smoothly and achieves its goals. Successful event planners are highly organized, creative, and skilled at multitasking under pressure.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a non profit event planner, and why are they important?

A Non Profit Event Planner needs strong organizational abilities, project management skills, and experience in fundraising or nonprofit operations, often supported by a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Familiarity with event planning software, donor management systems, and budgeting tools is typically required. Excellent communication, creativity, and relationship-building skills help planners engage stakeholders and manage volunteers effectively. Job description

At D’Amico Hospitality, excellence isn’t a slogan — it’s the standard.

We are a nationally recognized, premium hospitality company and the largest private event and catering organization in the Twin Cities. For decades, we have built our reputation on producing extraordinary events with precision, creativity, sophistication, and consistency.

From corporate events and nonprofit galas to luxury weddings, private celebrations, and marquee occasions, D’Amico Hospitality has the culinary talent, venues, operational infrastructure, and production expertise to execute at a high level.

We’re Looking for a Big-Gun Event Professional.

This is not an entry-level sales position and it is not simply a role for someone who knows how to plan an event.

We are looking for a seasoned, highly connected hospitality and event professional who has spent years building relationships in the Twin Cities and knows how to turn those relationships into meaningful business.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of proven experience in event planning, catering sales, hospitality, event production, or a related field — and brings an established network of clients, planners, corporate decision-makers, nonprofit leaders, venues, vendors, and industry professionals.

You know the Twin Cities event community. You know who the decision-makers are. You have earned trust. You have a track record. And when someone needs an exceptional event partner, your name is already on the list.

We want to give you the platform, resources, culinary expertise, venues, and operational horsepower of D’Amico Hospitality to take that network and your career to the next level.

We are looking for someone who brings:

· 5+ years of progressive experience in event planning, catering sales, hospitality sales, event production, luxury hospitality, or a related field

· A strong and established Twin Cities professional network

· An existing book of business, client portfolio, or significant pipeline of relationships

· A proven history of generating substantial event revenue

· Established relationships with corporate organizations, nonprofit leaders, wedding professionals, event planners, venues, vendors, and other influential industry partners

· A demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships and turn them into long-term business

· Experience selling and producing high-value, complex, and high-touch events

· Exceptional business development and consultative sales instincts

· The confidence and polish to work directly with executives, high-profile clients, event committees, and discerning hosts

· The ability to build trust quickly, anticipate client needs, and serve as a strategic advisor throughout the event lifecycle

· A reputation for professionalism, integrity, responsiveness, and getting things done

If you already have a reputation and a proven track record — we want to meet you.

Why D’Amico Hospitality?

Because the right person can do more with the right platform.

D’Amico Hospitality provides the scale, reputation, culinary talent, venues, creative resources, and operational expertise necessary to turn ambitious ideas into extraordinary experiences.

Our team has the infrastructure to support sophisticated events — while giving an accomplished Event Planner the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, win significant business, and create experiences that clients remember.

Our commitment to excellence has been recognized repeatedly through industry and regional awards, including:

· Star Awards WinnerInternational Live Events Association (2019–2025)

· CATIE Awards WinnerBest Action Station (2024) and Best Catered Event (2025)

But awards are only part of the story. Our real differentiator is our ability to consistently deliver.

The Opportunity

As an Event Planner, you will be responsible for driving significant event revenue while owning the client relationship from first conversation through successful execution. You will leverage your network, industry relationships, business development skills, and event expertise to identify opportunities, win business, grow existing accounts, and create long-term client partnerships.

This is a highly relationship-driven role for someone who understands that the best business is built on trust, reputation, responsiveness, and results.

· Leverage your existing Twin Cities network and book of business to generate new event opportunities

· Develop relationships with high-value corporate, nonprofit, wedding, social, and private-event clients

· Identify and pursue strategic new business opportunities

· Build referral relationships with event planners, venues, hotels, vendors, corporate leaders, nonprofit organizations, and other key industry partners

· Cultivate repeat business, referrals, rebookings, and long-term client relationships

· Represent D’Amico Hospitality at high-value networking opportunities, industry events, trade shows, community events, and client functions

· Conduct strategic sales calls, presentations, client meetings, venue tours, and tastings

· Develop proposals and event solutions that balance exceptional client experiences with strong profitability

· Serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the planning process

· Lead clients through event strategy, menu development, venue selection, floorplans, design considerations, timelines, and logistics

· Conduct site visits and previews for off-premise events

· Attend key events as needed to support clients and strengthen relationships
