Role Description
Data sits at the core of BizBuySell's value-connecting buyer intent, listing quality, broker performance, traffic, and conversion outcomes across a complex multi-sided marketplace. We are searching for a full-time Lead Data Analyst to join our team to act as the senior-most individual contributor for analytics within the BizBuySell product organization. This role will own marketplace-level analytics, define analytical standards, and drive insight that shapes product strategy, monetization, and broker success. This is not a reporting-only role. You will operate as an analytics strategist and architect, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Leadership to answer the most ambiguous and consequential questions facing the business. As we expand our use of AI both internally and in customer-facing features, you will help assemble the datasets that power those capabilities.
This position is located in San Francisco and is 5 days onsite.
Responsibilities
  • Define and own core operational metrics to measure impact of enhancements, assess risks and drive revenue growth
  • Acquire and clean data from multiple sources; develop queries in order to conduct analysis and create business performance dashboards
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to understand user behavior, product trends and areas of opportunity for major product initiatives (e.g., pricing, packaging, listing upgrades, broker tooling, experimentation)
  • Partner with Product and Exec leadership to inform roadmap prioritization and investment decisions, employing data visualization and statistical tools to deliver business insights
  • Establish standards for data quality, metric definitions, experimentation analysis, and dashboard design
  • Design and maintain canonical datasets and semantic models used across Product, Growth, and Sales
  • Own the data models and analytical foundations that power AI-driven product experiences
  • Reduce ad-hoc analytics load by building scalable self-service tooling and documentation

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college/university.
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.
  • 8+ years of experience as a data analyst.
  • Expert-level SQL and Excel skills.
  • Expertise with business intelligence software (i.e. Power BI, Looker, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication skills-able to explain nuanced findings to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with data at scale in platforms like Databricks, BigQuery, and Snowflake in an AWS environment.
  • Knowledge of web analytics tools (i.e. Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager).
  • Exposure in performing data analysis and providing insights for high-traffic SaaS products, particularly with multi-sided marketplaces, conversion funnels, and cohort analysis.
  • Experience designing analytical datasets used in AI, machine learning, or rules-based optimization systems (e.g., scoring, ranking, recommendation, or classification).
  • Expertise with statistical analysis and data manipulation in Python.

What's in it for you?
When you join CoStar Group, you'll experience a collaborative and innovative culture working alongside
the best and brightest to empower our people and customers to succeed.
We offer you generous compensation and performance-based incentives. CoStar Group also invests in your professional and academic growth with internal training and tuition reimbursement.
  • Our benefits package includes (but is not limited to):
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage: Medical / Vision / Dental / Prescription Drug
  • Life, legal, and supplementary insurance
  • Virtual and in person mental health counseling services for individuals and family
  • Commuter and parking benefits
  • 401(K) retirement plan with matching contributions
  • Employee stock purchase plan
  • Paid time off
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • On-site fitness center and/or reimbursed fitness center membership costs (location dependent)
  • Access to CoStar Group's Employee Resource Groups
  • Complimentary gourmet coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fresh fruit, and other healthy snacks

Salary: This position offers an annual base salary range of $123,000 - $175,000, based on relevant skills and experience and includes a generous benefits plan.
