Position Description

The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington is seeking adetailorientedandmissiondriven Data Analyst to help transform data into insights that strengthen our programs, engagement, and organizational strategy on our Impact Team. This role works across teams to analyze data, build clear reports and dashboards, and communicate findings that support informeddecisionmakingin a Jewish nonprofit setting.

The ideal candidate is analytically strong, communicates clearly with both technical andnontechnicalaudiences, and values using data in service of community impact.


Key Responsibilities

Data Collection & Management

  • Collect, clean,validate, andmaintaindata from multiple sources (surveys, CRM systems, program databases, spreadsheets, and external data sources).
  • Manage and document datasets to ensure accuracy, consistency, andlongtermusability.
  • Support best practices for data governance, privacy, and ethical data use, particularly when handling sensitive community or donor information.

Analysis & Insights

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities across programs, fundraising, engagement, and operations.
  • Apply statistical methods to evaluate program effectiveness, measure outcomes, and support continuous improvement.
  • Developrubrics to support evaluation and assessment.
  • Design and analyze surveys to assessprogram performance as well ascommunity needs, satisfaction, and impact.
  • Review surveys and studies (internal and external) to provide recommendations

Reporting & Data Visualization

  • Create clear, compelling dashboards, visualizations, and reports for diverse audiences, including staff, leadership, funders, and board members.
  • Translate complex findings into accessible narratives that connect data to mission and strategy.
  • Ensure reports aretimely,accurate, and aligned with organizational goals.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Partner with colleagues across departments to understand business questions and translate them into analytical approaches.
  • Present insights through written reports, slide decks, andoralpresentations.
  • Support a culture ofdatainformeddecisionmakingby helping colleagues understand and use data confidently.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identifyopportunities to improve data systems, workflows, and reporting processes.
  • Stay current with data analysis tools, visualization techniques, and nonprofit data best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in data science, statistics or related field.
  • Experience with data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, andproblemsolvingskills.
  • Proficiencywith spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
  • Experience working with databases or CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Python or R for data analysis.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit, philanthropic, or membershipbased organizations.
  • Experience analyzing fundraising, donor, engagement, or program impact data.
  • Understanding of data privacy, ethics, and stewardship of sensitive information.
  • Familiarity with Jewish customs, traditions, and community life, or a willingness to learn, is preferred
  • Candidates mustresideinor be willing torelocateto the Greater Washington (DC, MD, and Northern VA) region. Thisis a hybrid position, with 3 days a weekrequiredin our headquarters
