Position Overview
Rider University invites applications for an Admissions Counselor who will be responsible for obtaining necessary knowledge of all aspects of Rider and acting as a spokesperson for the University according to its mission and expectations. The Admissions Counselor will also be responsible for counseling prospective students, reviewing applications, making admission decisions, and managing a specific recruitment territory.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate and detailed information of all aspects about Rider University to prospective students. This includes the admission process, financial aid, student life, all academic programs, campus events, and athletics. Relay specific information concerning Rider via telephone, email, and face-to-face contacts (through college fairs and individual visits).
  • Research and determine schools to recruit within a designated territory and travel to those schools throughout the year.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with high school counselors.
  • Establish goals and analyze data to determine effectiveness of recruitment efforts.
  • Analyze high school transcripts, determine GPA, and make admission decisions from designated territory. Award merit-based scholarships to qualified applicants.
  • Under the guidance of the director, manage the application and audition processes for the School of Communication, Media and Performing Arts (SCMPA) and serve as primary liaison with the SCMPA faculty.

As an Admissions Counselor, the entire cost of car insurance is reimbursed in 3-month intervals.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Performing Arts background.
  • Technical skills with internet applications and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing and vehicle required.
  • Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Music background preferred
  • Bilingual preferred
