Job description

Post-Partum Registered Nurse

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Post-Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification, COVID Vaccine Required, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Must-Have: Newborn transition and Post delivery Magnesium management Description: COVID vaccine is required. The unit has 11 Labor & Delivery beds and 7 antepartum/high-risk beds. There are 2 OR suites and 3 triage beds. The postpartum area contains 32 beds. Approximately 4000 births occur per year. Ratios follow AWHONN guidelines. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Magnesium. Charge Nurse/House Supervisor is available. CNA support is provided on the unit. An OB and Neonatologist are in-house 24/7. An advanced practice provider for NICU is available 24/7. Respiratory therapy equipment, including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP, is available for the NICU. There are no telemetry services on this unit. RNs are responsible for reading strips. The Electronic Fetal Monitoring System used is Centricity Perinatal. Weekend and holiday requirements are in place. There is a call or standby requirement for RNs due to low census. Floating is required to Labor & Delivery for normal newborn transition. The dress code includes hospital scrubs in Labor & Delivery or personal scrubs in the postpartum area. Unit/department-specific orientation is provided. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is not required.
