What is a no experience web developer?

A No Experience Web Developer is someone who is new to web development and is seeking entry-level positions without prior professional experience in the field. These individuals typically have foundational knowledge of programming languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, often gained through self-study, online courses, or coding bootcamps. Employers hiring for these roles look for enthusiasm to learn, problem-solving skills, and a basic portfolio of personal or academic projects. Starting as a No Experience Web Developer is a common way for beginners to break into the tech industry.

What can I expect working as a web developer?

Web developer jobs can be interesting and rewarding, but they are also a lot of hard work. Many of your responsibilities as an entry-level professional involve collaboration with project managers, tech leads, and other developers. New projects begin with a kick-off meeting to gather background information, such as specific languages, coding, programming, software use, and client goals. In this position, details are important, so you can expect the standards to be high throughout all of your duties. When you start work on a project, you can expect to do a lot of code writing, testing, and retesting until you get the desired results.

What types of projects or tasks can a no experience web developer expect to work on in their first role?

As a no experience web developer, you will likely start with smaller tasks such as fixing bugs, updating website content, or assisting with the development of specific web pages under the guidance of more senior developers. You may also help with testing features, writing documentation, or learning version control systems like Git. These responsibilities are designed to help you build foundational skills, gain confidence, and gradually take on more complex projects as you grow within the team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a no experience web developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a No Experience Web Developer, you need a solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript, often demonstrated through personal projects or online coursework rather than formal job experience. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, as well as exposure to web development frameworks or platforms like React or WordPress, is highly beneficial. Strong problem-solving abilities, a willingness to learn, and effective communication skills help you adapt quickly and collaborate with others. These attributes enable you to build foundational projects, contribute to teams, and grow rapidly in the field despite a lack of prior professional experience.

The main difference between a No Experience Web Developer and a Junior Web Developer lies in their experience level. No Experience Web Developers are typically beginners with little to no professional work, often seeking internships or training roles. Job description

Are you ready for what's next?

Come explore opportunities within Brunswick, a global marine leader committed to challenging conventions and innovating next-generation technologies that transform experiences on the water and beyond. Brunswick believes "Next Never Rests," and we offer a variety of exciting careers and growth opportunities within united teams defining the future of marine recreation.

Innovation is the heart of Brunswick. See how your contributions will help transform vision into reality:

Position Overview:

As part of the talented Digital Marketing Team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day execution, maintenance, and quality assurance of content and configuration across Navico Group's portfolio of approximately 18 brand websites.

The Web Content Specialist ensures CMS throughput, content accuracy, SEO hygiene, and cross-functional request fulfillment remain consistent and reliable while senior team members focus on a major platform migration initiative. This person will also be expected to identify opportunities to improve how work gets done-leveraging AI tools and emerging platform capabilities to increase speed, reduce manual effort, and solve problems that may not have established playbooks yet.

We are looking for someone who combines solid CMS execution fundamentals with genuine curiosity about new tools and ways of working. The ideal candidate is not defined by years of experience alone, but by their willingness to learn quickly, adapt to evolving workflows, and apply new technology to real operational problems.

At Brunswick, we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver.

Essential Functions:

CMS Content Operations

  • Execute content publishing, updates, and configuration changes across multiple brand websites using enterprise CMS platforms (AEM, Optimizely, or equivalent).

  • Build and maintain landing pages, product detail pages, campaign assets, and navigational elements in accordance with defined brand and UX standards.

  • Process and fulfill content requests from cross-functional stakeholders (product marketing, brand, e-commerce) within established SLA timelines.

  • Manage digital asset preparation, including image optimization, metadata tagging, and file organization within the DAM/CMS environment.

Quality Assurance & Site Integrity

  • Conduct pre-publish and post-publish QA reviews to ensure content accuracy, link integrity, responsive rendering, and cross-browser compatibility.

  • Identify, document, and escalate front-end defects, broken user flows, and rendering inconsistencies through established ticketing workflows.

  • Maintain and execute recurring site audit checklists covering content freshness, broken links, 404 errors, and taxonomy compliance.

SEO Hygiene & Technical Compliance

  • Implement on-page SEO elements-including meta titles, descriptions, heading hierarchy, alt text, and URL structures-according to provided specifications.

  • Monitor and flag SEO compliance gaps during routine content operations; escalate strategic SEO decisions to the appropriate lead.

  • Support structured data implementation and schema markup as directed.

AI-Assisted Workflow & Continuous Improvement

  • Actively use AI tools (e.g., generative AI assistants, content drafting tools, QA automation) to accelerate routine tasks and improve output quality.

  • Identify repetitive or manual-intensive workflows and propose AI-assisted or automated alternatives, even where no established process exists.

  • Stay current on emerging AI capabilities relevant to content operations, CMS platforms, and digital marketing workflows; share findings with the team.

  • Approach unfamiliar problems with a problem-solving orientation-comfortable working through ambiguity using available tools rather than waiting for step-by-step instructions.

Migration & Replatform Support

  • Provide operational support during the active site migration initiative, including content inventory validation, redirect mapping assistance, and pre/post-launch QA.

  • Execute bulk content entry, migration validation tasks, and regression testing as assigned by the Web Operations Lead.

  • Document procedural gaps, edge cases, and CMS-specific behaviors encountered during migration cycles.

  • Adapt to evolving platform capabilities and toolsets as the migration progresses; the technology environment is not static and the role requires comfort with that.

Process Documentation & Operational Support

  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for recurring CMS tasks, publishing workflows, and QA protocols.

  • Contribute to internal knowledge base documentation to support team scalability and onboarding.

  • Participate in sprint ceremonies, stand-ups, and backlog grooming as required by the team's operating cadence.

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of hands-on experience in web content operations, CMS administration, or digital production within a multi-brand or enterprise environment.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with at least one enterprise-grade CMS platform (Adobe Experience Manager, Optimizely, Sitecore, or comparable).

  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS sufficient to troubleshoot rendering issues, interpret page templates, and make minor front-end adjustments.

  • Practical understanding of on-page SEO principles, metadata standards, and accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA).

  • Experience executing structured QA processes across desktop and mobile environments.

  • Demonstrated use of AI tools (generative AI, content assistants, or automation tools) in a professional context-not just awareness, but active application to real work.

  • Strong problem-solving orientation with a track record of figuring things out independently when a documented process doesn't exist.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document processes clearly and escalate issues appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) as a Cloud Service or Optimizely Content Cloud.

  • Active personal or professional experimentation with AI-powered tools for content creation, QA, workflow automation, or data analysis.

  • Exposure to site migration or replatforming projects, including content inventory, redirect mapping, or regression testing.

  • Familiarity with DAM platforms, image optimization pipelines, and brand asset governance workflows.

  • Basic familiarity with Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, or comparable web analytics platforms.

  • Experience working within Agile or Scrum-based delivery teams.

  • Background in marine, outdoor recreation, consumer electronics, or manufacturing verticals is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid schedule at one of our Navico Group sites

  • Standard business hours with occasional flexibility required to support deployment windows or time-sensitive publishing requests.

  • Primarily sedentary, computer-based work in a standard office or home office environment.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $59,000-$95,750, annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.

This position is eligible to participate in Brunswick's comprehensive and high-quality benefits offerings, including medical, dental, vision, paid vacation, 401k (up to 4% match), Health Savings Account (with company contribution), well-being program, product purchase discounts and much more. Details about our benefits can be found here.
