Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator – VMware/Hardware to build, maintain, secure, and support enterprise server and infrastructure environments. This role will work across VMware virtualization, Cisco UCS hardware, Windows and Linux servers, storage, networking, and disaster recovery within highly available, secure, 24/7 IT environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on VMware experience, and the ability to support both virtual and physical infrastructure in a fast-paced IT operations environment.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Deploy, configure, maintain, and support VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi hosts, clusters, and virtual infrastructure.

  • Support VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), including Automation and Operations components.

  • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade ESXi hypervisor hosts.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot VM and host performance, capacity, availability, and connectivity issues.

  • Perform Fiber Channel storage provisioning and troubleshooting for VMware ESXi environments.

  • Administer and maintain Cisco UCS infrastructure, including firmware, drivers, hardware components, and compatibility validation.

  • Support Cisco Intersight for infrastructure management and monitoring.

  • Assist with physical server, infrastructure, and hardware installations.

  • Perform basic enterprise network configuration and troubleshooting, including VLANs and port channels.

  • Support Windows and Linux server administration across physical and virtual environments.

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and regularly test disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.

  • Support replication and disaster recovery technologies such as Zerto.

  • Monitor infrastructure health and respond to system outages, performance issues, and critical incidents.

  • Follow ITSM processes for incident, problem, change, and configuration management.

  • Maintain accurate change records and ensure all infrastructure changes are properly documented and approved.

  • Create and manage vendor support cases for hardware and infrastructure issues.

  • Use ticketing and tracking systems to document incidents, troubleshooting activities, and resolutions.

  • Participate in scheduled and after-hours support for infrastructure outages and critical incidents.

  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, virtualization, storage, operating system, and network issues.

  • Communicate technical issues, root causes, and resolutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with VMware virtualization and infrastructure administration.

  • Experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, clusters, and virtual machines.

  • Experience with VM and ESXi host performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), including Automation and Operations.

  • Experience administering Cisco UCS enterprise hardware.

  • Knowledge of server firmware, drivers, hardware compatibility, and lifecycle management.

  • Experience with Fiber Channel storage and VMware storage connectivity.

  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration.

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of enterprise networking, including VLANs and port channels.

  • Experience supporting disaster recovery and infrastructure recovery processes.

  • Strong understanding of ITSM and change management processes.

  • Experience with enterprise ticketing and incident management systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in 24/7 enterprise IT operations environments.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and customer-service skills.
