Machine Operator – Temp-to-Hire

Piney Flats, TN
Pay: $17–$19/hour + $2/hr shift differential for 2nd shift
Temp-to-Hire | Full-Time

Cornerstone Staffing Solutions is hiring Machine Operators for a manufacturing facility in Piney Flats, TN. This is a great opportunity for dependable individuals who enjoy hands-on work and want to build a career in manufacturing with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position.

As a Machine Operator, you’ll operate production machinery, work from blueprints and diagrams, move materials, perform quality checks, and help keep production running safely and efficiently.

Shift Options

1st Shift: 6:00 am – 4:45 pm
Pay: $17–$19/hour

2nd Shift: 5:00 pm – 3:30 am
Pay: $17–$19/hour + $2/hour shift differential

Some overtime may be required based on production needs during peak season. If you work on a Sunday you will be paid double time.

What You'll Do

  • Operate manual production machinery and equipment
  • Set up and position machinery and materials according to production requirements
  • Read and follow job orders, diagrams, blueprints, and work instructions
  • Load, unload, lift, and move materials and finished products
  • Use lifting equipment when available
  • Perform pre-shift preventative maintenance
  • Complete production paperwork, checklists, barcodes, labels, and material documentation
  • Scan and track materials throughout the production process
  • Perform quality and visual inspections of products
  • Follow all safety and quality procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow departmental housekeeping and 5S standards

What We're Looking For

  • Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure – REQUIRED
  • Basic math and reading comprehension skills
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints or diagrams
  • Manufacturing, construction, or machine operation experience is a plus
  • Experience safely operating production equipment preferred
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime when needed

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk on concrete for most or all of the workday
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and balance as needed
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. independently
  • Lift materials weighing more than 50 lbs. with assistance
  • Use hands for reaching, handling, and operating tools/equipment
  • Perform visual inspections of products
  • Work in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing environment
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
