Job Title: CNC / EDM Machinist Location: Surgoinsville, Tennessee, United States Department: Tool Shop Employment Type: Full-time Position Overview We are seeking a skilled CNC / EDM Machinist to join our Tool Shop team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, loading, and operating EDM and graphite milling machines to meet precise specifications and tolerances. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Set up, load, and operate EDM and CNC milling machines according to required specifications and tolerances. Review job instructions, part prints, and assignments from the Tool Shop Supervisor. Retrieve and prepare graphite electrodes, including recertification or replacement as needed. Assemble and set up electrode pallet systems. Load CNC programs, set up cutters, and perform milling operations on electrodes. Interpret part prints and inspect finished electrodes for correct size and quality. Perform roughing and finishing sinking operations on EDM machines. Monitor machines for irregular cutting or malfunctions and make necessary adjustments. Conduct minor maintenance on equipment (oiling, greasing, filter changes, etc.). Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Follow all safety procedures and report any issues promptly. Complete job tracking and documentation accurately. Sharpen cutting tools and perform basic bench work when required. Tools & Equipment Used Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) CNC Milling Machines Drill Press, Hand Tools, and Measuring Instruments Cranes and Forklifts Automatic Tool Changers (ATC) Computer systems for program input and monitoring Materials Handled Forge Die Steels Tool Steels Graphite Electrodes Oils and Grinding Wheels Qualifications Proven experience as a CNC or EDM Machinist in a manufacturing or tool shop environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Hands-on experience with CNC programming and setup. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Basic maintenance and troubleshooting skills for machining equipment. Commitment to workplace safety and product quality. Additional Responsibilities Authorized to stop production in case of non-conforming product.
