Riverside Overview

Riverside Research is an independent National Security Nonprofit dedicated to research and development in the national interest. We provide high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the countryโ€™s most challenging technical problems. All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. Citizenship.

Position Overview

Riverside Research is seeking a personable and highly technical individual to fill the role of Systems Administrator, capable of providing information technology support to groups performing cutting-edge research supporting national security interests. In this junior to mid-level position, a successful candidate will leverage their technical expertise as the primary individual responsible for the maintenance, operation, and support of a specialized IT system. This position will be based out of our Fairfax, VA office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support of a VMware based environment that includes Windows virtual machines and a software development platform
  • Support quarterly planning meetings related to the software development platform and an annual exercise that requires travel to support the event
  • Coordinate with tier 3 functional roles within the information technology team when needed
  • Capability to troubleshoot complex information technology problems using all available resources
  • Develop new and maintain existing installation and configuration procedures
  • Apply security updates/patches to all systems
  • Remediate monthly compliance scans
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures
  • Coordinate all significant information technology changes with the appropriate parties such as management, infrastructure, and information security
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a systems administrator
  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of 2 yearsโ€™ experience, an advanced degree with no experience, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience installing, upgrading, and configuring software such as Gitlab
  • Experience installing and maintaining physical hardware
  • Ability to manage time independently without direct supervision
  • DoD 8140 (451) Systems Admin - Intermediate Certification (Security+ or Equivalent)
  • Active Secret (or higher) USG Clearance
  • Ability to travel as needed

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience across traditional IT stack (Clients, Networking, Servers, Storage)
  • Ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance with SCI adjudication
