The total hourly pay for this exempt position is $51.26 for up to 40 hours per week. This rate represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Cape Fox Facilities Services (CFFS) is seeking an experienced Scientist to provide services in support of the overall functions of the Office of Chief Scientist - Integrated Research Facility (OCSIRF) within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The PI-1 Virology Core has the principal focus of developing and executing an independent research program that is focused on understanding aspects of viral infection, replication or pathogenesis to support the mission of the IRF-Frederick and NIAID.

Technical Requirements: Title: Virology Support Scientist Provide research services to support virology research, such as performing research that takes advantage of IRF-Frederick resources and to provide technical expertise for the completion of cutting-edge research. Perform research with the guidance and direction of Federal Task Leader and Senior research staff. Provide expertise on basic virology, molecular virology, immunology, organ-chip/organoid technologies, drug screening assays, microscopy, protein chemistry or related fields.

Responsible for laboratory inventory management, submitting purchase requests, managing laboratory resources and maintaining appropriate laboratory research documentation (notebooks). Execute virology research as directed Maintain proper research documentation and data management Maintain laboratory reagent and material inventories Manage general laboratory operations Submit purchase requests Assist with manuscript and report writing as requestedWork will be performed up to 40 hours per week during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, excluding Federal holidays. However, work can run past business hours and flexibility will be needed, to potentially include weekends and holidays.

Specific Qualifications: Minimum of a full 4-year course of study from an accredited college or university leading to a B.S. or higher degree that includes specialized training and research in virology, molecular biology, serology, and/or immunology Previous laboratory research experience (>3 years preferred) Virology research experience preferred Previous recent BSL-3 or BSL-4 experience preferred; BSL-4 experience preferred. Occupational Health/Physical Requirements and Worksite Hazards: Occupational health/physical requirements is required
