Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Inpatient Cardiology provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to adult patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions in an inpatient setting. This unit also functions as an overflow from Intermediate Care unit as well as a Level 1 Stroke Unit. This role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration, and the ability to manage complex cardiac patients in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to inpatient cardiology patients

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, labs, and patient status

  • Administer medications and treatments per provider orders and clinical protocols

  • Respond promptly to changes in condition, rapid responses, and cardiac emergencies

  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary care team

  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, procedures, and discharge planning

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record

  • Support quality, safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program

  • Licensure: Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse RN in Connecticut.

  • Certification: BLS certification required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN degree preferred.

  • Experience: Prior inpatient cardiology, telemetry, step-down, or acute care experience

  • Certification: ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain within designated timeframe)

Work Schedule:

  • Full Time -36 hours - Night Shift

  • Every other Weekend/Holiday

  • This is an hourly position, included in the RN Step Program pay range: $36.15 to $59.95.
