Data Engineer - Clinical Data Mart (Remote, West Coast Preferred) EX BCBS Preferred
REMOTE
Key Responsibilities:

  • Build dbt Pipelines: Design and maintain staging, intermediate, and semantic layers using dbt best practices (testing, documentation, CI/CD).
  • EHR Data Transformation: Normalize HL7/FHIR or proprietary schemas into standardized entities (patients, encounters, orders).
  • Data Modeling: Develop conformed dimensions and fact tables that abstract the complexities of EHR systems.
  • Automation & Quality: Implement robust dbt tests and integrate with orchestration tools like Airflow or Prefect.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with clinical informaticists and BI teams to validate data and refine requirements.

Required Skills:

  • 4+ years of experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
  • 4+ years hands-on development with dbt (models, tests, documentation, CI/CD)
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data structures
  • Python for scripting, macros, and custom transformations
  • Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration and quality frameworks
