Job description

Plant Manager (Poultry Processing Plant)

The Plant Manager oversees all functional operations of a poultry processing facility, ensuring efficient production, safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across all shifts and departments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all functional areas in a poultry processing plant including production, maintenance, safety, shipping, receiving, sanitation, scheduling, and quality.
  • Oversee three production shifts to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and product output.
  • Lead and mentor department managers to build strong leadership skills and workforce capability.
  • Resolve issues related to product quality, incoming materials, and outgoing shipments.
  • Review cost, performance, and efficiency data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Compile and analyze monthly expense and efficiency reports.
  • Promote Total Quality Management (TQM) principles among plant employees.
  • Approve and execute all plant-related capital improvement projects.
  • Facilitate Talent Mapping, Succession Planning, and Retention Programs.
  • Ensure strict compliance with food safety, product quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production and operational processes.
  • Identify operational challenges and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve them.
  • Maintain excellent communication within teams and with senior leadership.
  • Travel required: approximately 6 to 11 trips annually.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in poultry manufacturing (preferably Tray Pack operations).
  • At least 6 years of leadership experience managing large or complex facilities.
  • Experience working in unionized environments and leading union teams.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop new or junior leaders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar manufacturing systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
